somebody has to help me

My 5 month old barely gets 6 hours of sleep throughout the whole day. At night hes up every hour and it takes me at least an hour to get him back to sleep. He maybe takes 1 20 min nap a day. I dont understand how a baby can go from sleeping through the night to barely sleeping at all. He has been this way for 5 weeks now. I am so tired and overwhelmed. As for people that know me i also have another son that will be 2 on the 27th. I am at my wits end. HIs pedi told me to try to let him cry and just go in every 5 mins pat his back a little and than walk back out. I tried that today for about an hour and a half and it did not work at all and i just couldnt take hearing him cry anymore. Please any helpful tips would be greatly appreciate.

I'm in the same boat with my 7 month old.
Shes on s routine, and I've tried all the advice I've seen/been given... It didn't work.
I just came to the conclusion that she'll do it in her own time.

My Dr said same thing wait 5 then 10 then 15 and continue 15 and they will eventually cry themselves asleep and I crushes me to do it I hate hearing my babies cry but I just turned off the monitor and about 3 days of that it worked and was great. I have one good sleeper and one terrible sleeper. But my oldest did it for 2 years til I tried what the Dr said. Don't worry it will get better!

He refuses to go to sleep on his own though thats my problem right now. today was the first day i tried i put on his little music thing closed the door and he started screaming automatically its not even like he just cries when i leave him he actually starts screaming everytime. I really tried for about an hour and a half and i gave up and just picked him up. im gonna try again at bedtime and see how it goes but you have given me a little hope that maybe it will work in the end. I thought he was gonna be my good sleeper cause my toddler was up every 2 hours at night until he took himself off the bottle at 12 months old.

I know it's not right for every family, but have you tried co-sleeping?

ive never liked co sleeping but believe me after 5 weeks of barely getting 3 hours of sleep a night ive tried it and he wont sleep with me at all. im a single mom so its not even like i have anyone that can switch with me sometimes i get up sometimes they get up
