HUGE piece of placenta(TMI)

I had my miscarriage last Friday (9 days ago) where I birthed my 15 weeks baby. The placenta did not come out on its own so my Dr. went in and manually removed it. He got it out in 2 peices and was fairly certain he got it all.
I just went to the bathroom and a huge chunk came out the size of a 5 or 6 oz steak(TMI, sorry) and now I'm bleeding more and its bright red again. It smelled so awful, my husband could smell it 2 rooms away. Should I be concerned and call the after hours nurse line, or just be happy it came out?

After 9 days, heavy bleeding and a foul odor, I would go in asap. You likely have an infection.

It might not have been the placenta, sometimes regular clots can look very much like retained product of conception. I would be less concerned about retained placenta bleeding out than I would be about infection. That kind of smell just screams infection to me. I would get that looked at ASAP, I think an ER visit is in order.

Thanks ladies. I called my doctors on call after hours number and the nurse paged him. Ill see where he wants me to go from here

Thanks! The OB called me back and said since the baby had died 3 weeks before I delived it the smell was from the decomposition. As long as I don't have a fever over 99.5, horrible cramping/pain, or uncontrollable bleeding to just take it easy. I I get any of those head to the ER
