Breastfeeding in public....

I'm just curious on the response.... how many believe it is ok to breastfeed in public, and how many believe it should be done else where.... just a debate I was having with someone.... I personally believe you should be able to breastfeed anywhere.... I would if I were breastfeeding, but me being modest I probably would have to make sure I was fully covered... only because I would feel like people were watching me.

Baby boy didn't like covers...I kept it as modest as I could, but running off to a bathroom? No thanks.

I honestly think women should be able to just whip it out and not have to cover. It's a kid eating. But maybe I'm weird.

I absolutely think women should breastfeed wherever they please. Cover up, or don't. It's just feeding a baby.
Personally, I couldn't do it because I am painfully modest and shy, and a LOT of why I stopped breastfeeding was because I was so embarrassed. I know I shouldn't have been, but I felt ashamed to be exposed, even with a cover-up I felt like everyone was staring.
Wouldn't it be wonderful to live in a world where it was no big deal to anyone??

If you can bottle feed anywhere, should be able to breastfeed anywhere. It's natural and needs to be normalized. Our society makes it about sex and it's nowhere even close. It's being compared to human waste and it's absolutely nothing even close! Most states have laws protecting breastfeeding mothers to feed wherever and whenever as long as it's not a private residence where the persons residing wouldn't agree with it. But in public, if the mother is permitted in the area, she is legally allowed and protected the right to breastfeed.

Just whip my boob out and feed her. If people want to stare, I stare right back at them when they eat. Hell I still do it and she's almost 3. Imagine THOSE looks

Yes, I agree!! I wondered how many states protected mothers right to breastfeed... i'm going to be pumping, so I wondered if that meant I had to leave the room or public place to pump. I know not the same... but curious.

Personally, I think it should be fine whenever and wherever. I would never do it myself, I am wayyy too self conscious than to whip out my boobie in front of strangers, for any reason, and DH would never allow it anyway. But that's just us.
As far as other people, go for it. I wouldn't give anybody crap. Any time I've ever seen people do it I just smile and go "aww" lol

They should be able to feed anywhere with or without covers. DD hated covers so I just had to pull my boob out with no cover.

I believe you should b able to breastfeed anywhere. Some places I think u should b covers because its more appropriate... But then it's never bothered me to see someone uncovered. I breastfed DD for 18 months always covered except for at home and I did it anytime/anywhere when she needed to eat ( im incredibly self concious about my boobs so I have never felt comfortable letting them out)

Can you offer insight about breastfeeding past a year?! That was also another debate I was having with someone, I think it's great... good for brain development, just curious... why parents choose to breastfeed past 1.

ETA: DS won't eat if I have him covered. He'll rip off and pull the cover off his face and refuse to eat. I show way less boob not covering than I would if I were to cover.

If I could have BF I would have proudly done it anywhere, and anytime my LO was hungry. I wouldn't throw anything over baby either.
