baby choking & gasping for air

DS has been what seems like he's choking on his own saliva. He'll make a small gag like sound & then start coughing but its not a consistent thing. He has been doing that for a few days though. Well I just got up to feed him & while he was eating he kept unlatching to gasp for air. His nose isn't stuffy or stopped up. I thought he was just eating too quickly but everytime he coos he does it too. Any idea on why this is happening? He's a few days away from being 12 weeks
