I speak French... Here's what you need to consider: no one will pronounce it right, and if she ever goes to a Francophone country she might feel a little silly.

Punky Brewster is what I think. Its not bad, I'd rather see it as a middle.

i personally like it.
EDIT: i took 2 yrs of French in hs and remember most of what i learned. so i pronounced it correctly and that's why i like it. sol-eel or whatever would not be a name i like. also knowing what it means makes me like it more.

Soledad, that's different. A middle name could work, and then when she's older she could have the option to go by it. Or it could just be a nick name that I call her by.

I would have pronounced it soul ill myself. So I can see people saying it wrong

Though pushing that aside, like Cheeks Mom said, if she goes to a country where French is the predominant language she may feel funny as I do not believe its even a commonly used name even in those countries. But in the end its your choice. Though if you really like that name it may be better as a middle name, like the others are saying.
