Where did your newborn sleep? *POLL
posted 10th Feb
With your newborn, did you use a bassinet, play yard, etc.. or go straight to the normal sized crib? Answer in poll, please. If you have very specific reasons for using one over another, feel free to share in comments. Right now I am looking at using the Pack n' Play (not Graco brand, but something basically the exact same). I thought about using the bassinet or "napper" part for the first few months, then moving him to a crib or the play yard in the pack n' play. To me, it seems basically like a bassinet, except I will be able to get much more use out of it with the play yard and changing station/pad. Thanks for any advice given & answering my poll!

None of those. She slept in her swing.

co-slept and wouldn't have had it any other way. makes breast feeding and snuggling so much easier!

We had a crib & bassinet but co-slept. (never ended up using either) I slept with her separate from dude though cos he's an..odd sleeper.
Those co-sleeprs that i've seen attached to beds are kinda cool.
I plan to co-sleep with baby three too.
Not sure what to do about the fact i still sleep with my 2.5 year old though...

He was in his bassinet in my room near the bed. I ended up having ergency c/s so I needed to have him close to me, out made breastfeeding easier plus transitioning to his cot was easier also.

bassinet right beside me until she was about 3.5-4 months old. after that, she transitioned into her own crib in her own room.

My oldest at first was in full size crib but when my mom found out she went nuts and bought us a bassinet lol so he was in that for a little bit then my SO loved co sleeping with him so we did that as well.
Youngest was in crib whole time. but I also had our bed in his room for the first few months so we slept in the same room.

I answered the poll with what we did the longest. He slept in his crib, in his room, until he was about 2 weeks old. Then, because we lived with my in-laws at the time and FIL felt the need to go get him when he cried and play with him for an hour before waking me up to feed him, we started co-sleeping, with him in our bed (which is what I answered in the poll). At about 9 months we switched him to a pack n play in our room. He is 16 months and by 18 months I hope to have him in his toddler bed, in his own room.

We did the normal size crib until about 4.5 months to 5 months and he started teething and whiny so he slept with me after that in my bed.

We did a bassinet for about three weeks because of my c-section I couldn't get into our bed and slept on the couch. Then after I was finally healed we co-slept until DD "weaned" herself from co-sleeping and wanted her own bed at about 5 months.

I clicked on bassinet coz its the closest to what I used. My daughter slept in her Moses basket beside my bed for about a month. I'd had a c section too but found it too difficult to lift her from the cradle at first so I kept her in the basket. After that I kept the basket downstairs + she slept in the cradle in my room. This was a swinging hand carved cradle, my grandfather built it 20 years ago for one of my cousins + it's been passed around the family since then. (New mattress ordered each time of course). Much as I loved it, it was difficult to keep still while lifting baby out so I eventually moved her temporarily to a travel cot. She loved this, loads of room to stretch out + she was in that till 5 months when another cousin gave me a proper cot. She was even happier then lol
ETA sorry I had to edit, using touch screen + hit post by accident!

Tried the bassinet but ended up co sleeping after a week or so. It just made BFing so much easier and I loved the snuggle time.

For those of you that co-slept... Was it hard to transition them to a crib in their own room?

Yes lol. Well not as hard for me as it was for others. It took about 3 days to get her fully transitioned. Now she loves her crib and won't sleep anywhere else!
