Crazy past 2 days

Thursday night we gave Audrianna a breathing treatment at 6:45pm by 8pm we were in the ER with her having even more problems breathing. They gave her a neb treatment and sent her home with the diagnosis of pneumonia (we left there about 10:05pm) by 10:30 we were back in the ER because she couldn't even say hi or bye her breathing was so bad. Yet again they were going to give her a neb treatment and send her home. The nurse was even rude to my mom who is a respiratory therapist and was just asking to make sure they saw where she was retracting all over her ribs and by her collar bone. I had to ask them to swab her for RSV because they were refusing yet insisting that she needed to be swabbed for Strep (how that even made sense I have no smurfing clue). Finally we told them we wanted transferred to Children's hospital and they still didn't want to listen and just tried calling over there to get them to agree with them that we were over reacting.

Children's told the ER to give A steroids and then to get her shipped over there as soon as they possibly could. We arrived at Children's at 2 am on Friday morning. Our experience was great there (wouldn't expect less since that is where my mom works and they only hire the best of the best. They don't take anybody that has less than a 3.8 gpa) and Audrianna got diagnosed as Asthmatic. Now we have a plan to keep her healthy without as many breathing issues. She is on oral steroids for the next 2 days, antibiotics for the next 2 days (just because her wbc is up and they don't know why but they do know for sure she doesn't have pneumonia), and then she is on inhaled steroids until further notice. I'm so worn out though. I just need a good nights of sleep which will never happen.  

Oh poor baby   I'm sorry you had some really stressful days. I hope she feels better soon.

Thank you! So Far she is feeling 100% better only more hyped from the albuterol. lol I'm still super mad at our local er though and plan to file a complaint on monday.

I forced my mom to come in with me the second time beacuse she is a respiratory therapist at Children's and I was like they won't listen to me you have to come in. lol They were still such smurfs. Then again they sent a guy home with pulmonary embolisms and just told his wife to give him blood thinners

I'm sorry you went through all that! Thankfully they finally gave in and A got what she needed!

Yea it still frustrates me though. I'm so glad that we went with our guts on it.

Yeah, I have learned to alawys follow my gut when it comes to my kid. No one knows your kid better than you.

It wasn't even that it was my gut, it was the fact that she was in respiratory distress and they wanted to be smurfs about it saying she just had pneumonia and just needed neb treatments. Now she doesn't even have pneumonia lol Go figure. I hate smurffy hospitals.   I love love loved our stay at Children's though. This is Audiranna's breakfast from this morning

They are amazing. We have a Children's hospital and then a cardinal glennon Children's hospital but I went with STraight Children's just since that is where mom works and I knew we would be in the best hands ever for her needs.

I just noticed where your from, your somewhat close to me. Did you have to come all the way to St.Louis, or is there a children's hospital close to you? I would definitely make a complaint with the first hospital you took her to.

Yeap all the way to STL. lol It only an hour away though so not too bad. Oh I am. I'm gonna raise hell. Just the disrespectfullness and them trying to discharge her a second time wasn't cool.
