Starting kindergarten

I just found out that the registration for kindergarten just started. I almost feel like Anya is not ready for it yet, I am going to make an appt to take to her pediatrician about it. Here they have Jr-kindergarten and Sr-kindergarten, if she would be held back, would she have to start at JK or could she start at SK? This is something I am going to ask her doctor too, but I was just wondering.

I didn't go to JK because I was too "advanced", I got really bored....... I went straight to SK when I turned 5

she turns 4 in May, but she was premature, and she is a little behind in other things, like she starts speech therapy soon

Is preschool an option

Honestly- after reading what you said just now- I'd keep her and decide where she should go next year. My son will be 6 when he starts kinder. (He's been in preschool)

If you don't feel like she's ready, wait. My ex wouldn't listen when they said my twins weren't ready. We dont' have 2 different kindergartens here. At the end of kindergarten, they again said they were not ready for 1st grade. We had them repeat kindergarten. they needed another year to mature. Now they are in 2nd grade, reading on 5-6 grade levels. They just weren't ready. waiting a year was the right answer for them.. but by making them repeat, and watching all their friends move on.. it was hard on them. My son still says.. "I'm in 2nd, but supposed to be in 3rd".. when really most of the kids in his grade are his age.

Jk sounds like pre k more than preschool. Here most day cares have a pre school curriculum. The sucky part is Peyton is ready but it's income based here so we make too much.
