Anya is an actual name. Anyanka is a character from Buffy lol.

That's what I thought, but wasn't 100% sure lol. I love Anya, and think it's adorable... but Anyanka... not so much.

It is a Russian name and yes it's from Buffy. Marie is MY middle name that is the meaning behind it. And I might just stick with Anya Marie. I like it because it is different.

I got my daughter's name from Buffy, as you can see from my username, her name is Anya

OP, don't know if this helps, but my daughter is Anya Samantha, she is named after her big sister who is my angel baby.

Its kinda funny how we came up with the name, we were discussing names, every name I liked he hated, every name he liked I hated, and we had just watched an episode of Buffy, so I said Buffy, and he is like uh no, then I said Willow, but thats one of our cats name, so thats out of the question and then I said fine, Anya then, and it was like a light went off in our heads, lol

Yeah same I loved Anya ever since I heard it on Buffy. It just sounds so unique and I like that it is Russian. And fiance agrees on it he loves it too!!
