thickening formula....flavors?

My doctor told me to add some of the rice to thicken up the formula to help stop my baby from throwing up so much. I went out shopping for the stuff today and they had plain kind and kind with apple flavor ect. can I use the ones with flavors? and do you recommend adding it to her bottles or giving it to her by spoon?

I wouldn't give anything but milk in a bottle,if you are offering baby rice then it should always be by spoon.
We have a thicker milk here in the UK called hungry baby which can help if babies have mildreflux but i have never heard of Drs advising thickening formula yourself.

Give it to.her with a spoon.
I'd just do.plain rice.

The purpose of putting it in the bottle to help with reflux is that it will coat the stomach better not causing the build up of acid. I would put it in the bottle honestly. When shes on solids, eating it from a spoon it will help even more.

Just use the plain kind for now and you can add it in the bottle if the Dr said its okay. A lot of ppl will give you hell for that but life goes on.... I put cereal in my sons bottle when he was 2 months per Drs orders

we switched to soy and it fixed the problem

we tried soy, we switched a lot, thats why shes telling me to try this. baby is 2 months

Have you tried formula with rice already added? Target has a huge tub for about the price of the name brand. So you dont have to add cereal to the bottle.

My son was on this and prevacid for his reflux after cereal in the bottle didnt work right.

I didnt say I agreed with them, I think they are over used by lots of people in the hopes of a good nights sleep, causing potential malnourishment and all sorts  
it can help with the reflux though and is reccomended here to help with that.

I'm wasnt saying that to attack you I'm just saying the thickening agents have been on the news here for infant deaths and major complications requiring surgery. Thats all. I understand different countries have different formulas so it may just be a U.S. thing.

I didnt take it as an attack, I just have major issues with these formulas,i think they should make it a licensed product and not for profit so there is less screwing around with our children.

theres special formula for reflux id suggest trying that, rice cereal in bottles are a choking hazard.
how old is she?
