how did you choose your child's godparents?

I have very high standards for the person id choose to raise my daughter if I'm unable too anwas curious how other people chose theirs ?

That's not what a godparent is. A godparent is one who helps guide the child, spiritually. Its a religious term and responsibility. It has nothing to do with who will have legal guardianship if you were to pass away.

For me and my ex-- it was our best friends. And who we know that will lead our son in the right direction if he gets lost and wont listen to me or his father.

My childrens god parents and the people who are named in my will to look after my kiddies should anything happen to me and DH are different

This! And the person chosen to raise my daughter is my sister which is different than the godparents that were chosen

And we kept it in the family, My sister and her husband are the god parents for our girls, and My mom and dad are godparents for our son.

My son doesn't have Godparents (we're not Christian) ... but SO's parents will have partial custody and my parents partial custody if we passed away. That's what a will is for.

I was very young when I had her and my SO's brother's girlfriend at the time was the one who helped us out the most. Other than of course my family. Not just financially, but emotionally, and everything. She'd always check up on me. Make sure my pregnancy was going well. Make sure I was feeling well. She was just awesome. (We would not ask her to) She will also buy her a whole bunch of stuff. So she of course, had to be the God mother. Till this day, she's still like that. So I couldn't be happier with that choice.

Her God father, just DH's God father.
