Gall Bladder issues !

posted 9th Feb
I spent all last week in the hospital, they couldn't tell me if i had kidney stones, or gall stones because all my tests came back normal and the couldn't see anything from the ultrasounds. But they think I have a non productive Gall Bladder, they cant do anything for me yet, but more then likely when my little man is born i'm going to have to get it taken out. I have nooo idea what causes the excruciating pains and attacks, they even told me it might go away when i have my baby... Has anyone else had these issues? did you have to get your gall bladder removed & what is it like? any foods i should and should not eat ?
I really don't want to end up back in the hospital before i need to !

I had my gallbladder out 8 years ago (mine was non-productive as well, no stones). The best way to keep from having a GB attack is to avoid trigger foods (fried, fatty, greasy, sweets....basically anything that makes you feel smurffy, lol).
Drinks TONS of water.

Greasy food causes gallbladder issues. They should have been able to tell you that in the hospital... I had issues at the beginning of this pregnancy with gallbladder "attacks"... Seriously thought I was dying lol

i thought i was soo dyeing, but the hospital is seriously full of idiots down here its crazy, the best hospital close to me is 2 hours away, so we just went to the closest one thinking something was up with the baby and scared to death.. but the first night i was in there i was sick from pain and sweating bullets, the next day i was still in a bit of pain but started to feel alot better but they wanted to keep me in because my blood presser was SUPPER high. and way the next day they told me i could go home but i started getting the pain again and said i would rather not until someone tells me what is happening and why i am in pain.. that night around 10 i cryed and cryed because i was so home sick but no one could discharge me because my doctor wasn't in.. but at 4:30am i ended up calling my mom because the nurses where being idiots and i was in soooooo much pain 10 times worse then the first night i was in there.. i was in the waiting room on the floor i was on because i was in a room with a newborn baby and next door to me was 2 new babies i didnt want to wake anyone up . and i was rocking and throwing up and crying and shaking and sweating I looked like something dyeing and felt like i was hit by a train. MY MOM came and took care of me. 5 oclock in the morning.. you'd think the nurses would be the ones helping right! noope. they gave me 2 tylonal and said it was mussel spasms.

Seriously sounds like they had no clue what they were doing. I wasn't to the point I was throwing up or anything but it seriously felt like my rib cage was being ripped open from the inside... They put me on morphine, ran some blood tests and did an ultrasound of my gallbladder, determined it was just an "attack" and to watch what i eat... Gave me a script for vicodin and sent me home... I was there for maybe 5 hours.

i dont think they doo... all my pain was in my middle back on my left side. besides some minor cramping they told me was "ligament pain." nothing in my ribs.. and i found if my mom pushed on it with a hot clothe the pressure would release a bit. not alot though. it almost felt like kidney stones but not quite.. when i get kidney stones it is HALF as bad as it was last week, and is is ALWAYS on my RIGHT side around my waist.
I've had stones 3 times only once when i was pregnant though, and they gave me a shot of morphine, and a script to adisol 50's .. but when i was in the hospital last week, i only got 2 regular Tylenol every 5 hours. and they wouldn't do Smurf. it was enough to knock me out for about 30mins, 10 mins after i take them. then i was awake in agony for the next 4 and half hours .. it only took the edge off long enough for me to get a quick snooze in.

I had to have mine removed in 08 after I had my DD. I keep going in to labor with her at 21 weeks. So the Dr put me on ibuprofen 800mg twice a day. I was on that for 15 weeks. The Dr said that was what messed my GB up was all the meds. I think the pain from my GB was worse then having the baby. I thought I was going to die.
That was 5 years ago and I still have problems if I eat a lot of salads or gassy foods.

The best thing I have found that helps with the pain is a glass of very cold MILK.

cant drink milk that often.. thats how i get kidney stones... i can only drink a VERRY small glass every now and then , i usaly only drink it when i have heart burn, & even then i take 2 mouth fulls and thats my limit, anymore i usaly get a kidney stone.

This is the only time I can drink milk. I hate it.. It can be anything that coats the stomach.

I started getting attacks when I was 28 weeks with my daughter. I went to the ER the first time cause I had no idea what was going on! They told me it was indigestion...I was like no, its not! Im pregnant, I know what indigestion is! They gave me IV protonix and gave me a script for that. I had another attack that lasted for like 8 hours, and I wasnt going to the hospital. I just had to wait it out (actually I was travelling from indiana to ga, and had my attack the whole way home!) Then, they got worse after I had my daughter. I was throwing up and having them all the time. I did some research and i would drink a shot of apple cider vinegar and that helped! Went to my 6 week pp check up and he sent me for an ultrasound and I had multiple gallstones! Had surgery and it was awesome! Now, nothing is wrong! I took it slow at first and found that lettece bothered me, but not now. Its been 1.5 years since my surgery. Good luck, I know how much it sucks!! But try the ACV, it might help!!

last year I was hospitalized for a pancreas attack which was caused by my gallbladder which had stones in it. they couldn't do anything except give me pain meds til the inflammation went down(I was 22weeks with dd2) but couldn't remove it yet til after I gave birth. they told me to stay away from greasy fatty foods. the dietitian told me anything fat free was ok to eat til it was removed.after I have birth I had to wait 3/4 weeks for my uterus to go some then I was allowed to have it removed,so I did. after I had it removed I was still having the pain of my stomach being twisted in knots nd throwing up n sweating with the icky feeling. mind you the only thing that helped easy the pain was to throw up but that only helped for 5mins then the pain was back, well I went an hour an upper gi done nd it turns out I have a 1 cm sized ulcer that was helping cause my pain more I take nexium to prevent the pain

I haf gall bladdrt problems from the age of 12 till I was 24. The hospitals messed me around saying it was stomache migrain for years. Eatting fatty foods is wot causes the gall bladder 2 cause pain. The stones in the gall bladder rub 2gether 2 break up fat but in ur case they r rubbing 2gether 2 much causing the pain. I was hospitalized once every 2 months with the pain havin 2 have morphin 2 stop the pain. I had mine cut out in 2008 thro key hole surgery n havr not had a problem since. Cut out fatty foods. N push as much as possible 2 have it taken out. I had 2 beg over n over again 2 have the op. Gd luck with

I had gallbladder attacks when I was pregnant with my son 3 years ago and at first they couldnt figure out what was wrong and thought I was having contractions so they gave me dimeral and stadol but neither helped so about day 6 of going to the hospital puking and shaking the did a ultrasound and found the gall stones and said I would have to wait till I had the baby to have it removed so they put me on pain killers and sent me home. Then 6 weeks after I had my son they removed and Ive been fine since. But it didnt matter what I ate or if I ate at all I would still have a attack about every few hours.

This all sounds so strange. I have kidney stone issues and it has nothing to do with drinking milk....it is actually bc I don't drink milk or get enough Calcium and when I do my body over compensates and produces Calcium deposits=kidney stones. But everyone in my family gets kidney stones. Your symptoms as far as pain sound the same as mine. My doctor told me it was my gallbladder but they would not do anything abt it till LO is born and that by then the problems would likely stop.
