My dumbass SIL

posted 9th Feb
Wants to get a c-section because her doctor told her since she wears contacts, it might damage her eyes to push.   Um, what?

And SIL is totally on board. "It won't be painful, I'll just have a small cut." I'm trying to tell her all the risks and downsides of a c-section but she wants one. I have a feeling she's going to be asking her "doctor" to schedule it early too.

Has anyone ever heard of this?

I wear contacts...I am legally blind in my right eye. And I gave birth naturally twice. I pushed for over 3 hours with my first. My eyes are fine.

*Shrugs.*

HAHA to it won't be painful. They're cutting through muscles, as well as skin.

But, also, the doctor needs to be kicked in the nuts (if he really told her that).

Right?! My BIL got so defensive -"whatever the doctor says, we're going to do." "But c-sections are popular here." They live in Poland.

I'm like dude....take my advice seriously. I never had a c-section but I did do my research about them when I had previa and might have needed one. And, of course, I learned a lot from BG.

Yuck.

I almost needed one, and I'm so damn happy I didn't.

That's ridiculous! "Popular"? Like they're the latest trend? Haha, tools.

As a woman who had an elective c-section per doctor's warning, your SIL should just say no. Everything post partum has been 10x worse than the vaginal birth with my daughter.

That's really stupid because I'm sure the hospital won't even want you to wear contacts. Nothing for that matter, like makeup, etc.

  this.

I've had 3 csections, one asleep and 2 I was awake. The ones I were awake for were at two different hospitals and they both asked if I wore contacts, cause if I did I would need to take them out.

Tell your SIL she is being a dumbass and her doctor is a dumbass for saying that.

I pushed for 2 hours, with my contacts in, they never mentioned that they would need to come out. That's pretty ridiculous...

Lol shed rather have major surgery than switch contacts/change prescriptions in case pushing makes her eyes worse? Lol. Thats the stupidest thing ive heard this week. She must not have had anyone tell her that her eyesight may change anyway because of the hormonal changes. Lol. I wore my contacts with both births, one i pushed for 2 hours, the other i pushed for 12 minutes. If shes dumb enough to have an elective c section for that reason, well, shell realize soon enough how dumb that idea is.

Okay I'm glad I'm not the only one that was like    .

It seems like she wants one because she doesn't want to push and the doctor is just giving her an excuse because, well, he's a doctor. And sometimes doctors would rather schedule c-sections out of convenience. Apparently that's prevalent in Poland more than here.

Sigh. It's her body and her choice but she's such a freaking selfish person.

She will feel like a idiot getting a damn c-section for no reason. That's ignorant beyond belief.

A pain free c section eh? I wish, mine was awful + though I did recover fairly quickly after it I did nearly pass out a few times with the pain when I was trying to walk around after it. My section was crash category, gassed + baby grabbed before her heart stopped but I remember when the nurses were prepping me they asked if I had any jewellery, contacts, piercings etc that had to be taken out. And even here in Ireland where we are behind the times in some medical areas, I've never heard of a doc telling someone they had to have a section because they wear contacts, sounds ridiculous!

Some schedule them cuz they get more $$ for a c section than a vaginal.
