Quoting LeTs*StArT*a*RiOt!:" I did when DD got sick. I trust doctors, but only to an extent. I know my child better than them, and ... [snip!] ... her energy up and keep her from getting too much attitude. Food wise, she should be fine, even adults eat less when sick."well she's only 8 months. it says on the pedialyte to ask a doc if under 1 or 2 yrs old (can't remember which). is gatorade ok for that young?
Quoting *KatteyBug*:" If it really concerns you, you could go ahead and give her a little Pedialyte here and there just to ... [snip!] ... food wise she should be alright unless she stops eating completely, as long as she's drinking fluids she should be okay too."lately she's been eating half her food, this morning she didn't want to eat at all. at times she refuses her bottle even though enough time has passed that she should want it...

Quoting LeTs*StArT*a*RiOt!:" DD got VERY ill at about that age. 7 or 8 months. She was in and out of the ER with breathing issues, ... [snip!] ... her some pedialyte, watered down, or some gatorade. It really helped us, I think, avoid a hospital visit due to dehydration."i think i'll have MIL get some gatorade then. i tried her with pedialyte before and she didn't like the flavor we got. its expensive to just turn around and throw it away. she woke up all stopped up in the middle of the night on the 21st, by the next afternoon spiked a fever of 101.8 (to me that's a fever) so we took her to the ER that night just to be safe. plus ppl were saying it could be RSV. they tested her for flu, RSV, and strep- all neg. they told us to rotate tylenol and motrin every 4 hrs. for her fever. well, even doing that we couldn't keep it down, so on the 25th we took her to her pedi. he tested her for RSV and the flu- both neg. he said it was probably a mixture of teething and something viral. he called her in an antibiotic but told us to wait 7 days to give it to her to see if it cleared up on its own. So on the 2nd, we started her on them. when we found out either tues or wed that we had the flu i called her pedi back to let them know and they just said there's nothing they can do... i can feel her chest rattle when she breathes at times and it scares me...

Quoting *KatteyBug*:" A lot of people get that way when their sick. Just keep trying to offer it to her every chance you get ... [snip!] ... from my mom who is a nurse not me lol my baby girl isn't here yet) And she also said watered down pedialyte should help too."yeah, my mom's an RN and she was the 1st to suggest pedialyte to me. the pedi told me as long as she's drinking i shouldn't worry but he didn't specify an amount.
Quoting CottonCandyKiller:" yeah, my mom's an RN and she was the 1st to suggest pedialyte to me. the pedi told me as long as she's drinking i shouldn't worry but he didn't specify an amount. "
Quoting *KatteyBug*:" You could always call and ask him. That way you don't have to take her in just call and say hey how much should she be drinking in a day if she's sick?"
Quoting CottonCandyKiller:" maybe. he just doesn't seem to know what he's talking about. i wish we could switch but no1 around here is accepting new patients..."
Quoting *KatteyBug*:" If you don't trust what he's telling you, then try calling one of those nurse hotlines they usually know what they're talking about."this might be a dumb question but how would i find the number to one?
