Kid-friendly Weed Killer?

If you use a whole-yard weed killer, do you use something that's safe for kids?

Usually my mother mills out this chemical bird seed-like stuff over the entire yard (about 1.5 acres), but now that my son plays outside I would like to find something more suitable.

To clarify again, I'm not looking for the spray bottles to kill individual weeds.

I've heard of peroxide and/or vinegar works wonders! Unfortunately you will have to spray it.... Maybe soak some newspapers with it, and lay them on top of the top soil?

Ah, gotcha... Yeah, this is the only natural way I have seen.... I'll poke around on Pinterest, maybe I'll find something else.

I've been looking, and that's all I can find... Just making a combo of those two with some dawn dish soap and spray all over... Which btw, that combo with the dishsoap is AWESOME for getting rid of stains!!!!!!!!!
