i think i have mono who else has had mono!!!

One of my co workers was out of work for like 3 weeks because she had mono, and the day she came back was the last time i worked...this passed wednesday. I was working in her zone so i was touching and dealing with everything she was dealing with and ever since then i have not been my self. I went to the doctor thursday because my tonsil on the left was swollen n painfull along with my glands. i swore up n down i had tonsilitis because ive had it so many times before. the doctor said i was right n she gave me 850 miligrams of amoxil. oh yea i forgot to mention my whole body hurts just achey n my temp was 99.9 no chills tho. so now im 48 hours into taking these meds and nothing has changed. I took motrin last night for the aches but they came back and my throat is so swollen n painfull that i cant even swallow my spit. i cant go to the doctors cuz their closed n i have to get blood work done but labcorp n quest are closed on the weekends. i just wanted to know if anyone had similar symptoms and found out it was mono, or maybe something else? k thanx 

You more than likely don't have mono. It came on way too quickly. Yes, sore throat is a symptom but the biggest symptom you would feel is EXTREME exhaustion. When I had it I slept 16 + hours a day. I also worked the entire time I had it and no one else got sick. Also mono is spread by saliva, sneezing or coughing so unless she was hacking up a lung all over you it is doubtful. You might have strep.

My husband had it a few months ago. took them 3 weeks, a ound of meds and 2 blood tests to figure out it was mono. Then it was just a wait and rest till you get better. he was sick! 103. temps. and he had a weird smell. he would shower 3 times a day because he smelled and was dumping buckets of sweat. His tonsils were a raw mess.

mono has a incubation period of one month which means you wouldn't have symptoms of it for quite a bit longer.

Yes i am tired all the time tho like id sleep all day if i could ....i just know my body n for me to be on meds this long already n nothing change is weird n im in so much pain that my skin hurts im considering on going to the hospital

they have to do a blood test and there are no meds to "cure " it. you just have to stay hydrated, and not strain, as you can damage your spleen. take advil, drink a ton of water and rest. Try to take it as easy as you can. Tylenol will help with the fever. it can last months.

That doesn't sound like mono and it's also passed through bodily fluids not just touching the same things more like sharing a drink or kissing.

when dh got it they said he could have go it from touching the railing at the aquarium we went to.
Neither myself nor dd ended up getting it. But they said if you have had strep then you prolly won't catch mono.
I teased the smurf out of him because growing up it was called "the kissing disease"

Yeah Idk when I had it they told me it wasn't passed through touch only bodily fluids. I got it from sharing a water bottle with my friend.
I also had strep throat plenty of times and I still got it lol It was horrible. I was so exhausted I couldn't even sit up, I layed on the couch for 2 weeks, slept there and everything because I literally couldn't move.
