re: what the..

Wow I didn't even think they would medicate a child that young.

But I can relate to what she's going through - DS sleeps 1 hour in the morning from 6-7am. That's it. Then during the day he has a 2 hour nap. I have THOUGHT every single thing she has - he needs medicine, he would be more advanced if he actually got adequate sleep[he is advanced already], this sleeping pattern isn't normal, I NEED SmUrfING SLEEP - all of it lol.

But children grow out of that as they get older, sometimes it takes years. I can't believe a doctor would actually give a sleep-aid to a 1 year old. SMH.

Christ.

My 5 year old still wakes up at night half the time. It's VERY normal developmentally for children to wake during the night. But I guess medicating them for our own selfish purposes is always better.

Gotta love it.

that was my first thought

yea id love to know if the pedi just prescribed it or if they actually did any tests or anything else to see WHY the child was waking up so much

I would hope the latter, but who the hell knows. When I brought up DS's sleeping issues at his 6 month appointment she told me to first use CIO and then if that doesn't work she'll send me to a "sleep clinic." I'm like, there is no easier or better way by now? Jeez.

i didnt want to say anything on your status but i can understand maybe if her child was really waking up 15+ times a night, but i really hope you dont take her suggestion seriously about even asking for some sort of sleep aid for a baby. itll get better just hang in there.it took over a year for my son to start sleeping better and even then he would wake up just a few times at night. i feel like boys are just worse sleepers..and my son has developed just fine with not getting tons of sleep
