Toddler's behavior while pregnant

posted 9th Feb
My toddler is almost two and I'm due in about 8 weeks. He has been SO clingy the past few months and it's only getting worse. I haven't really changed anything as far as how much time I'm spending with him, I mean I haven't really done anything to get ready for the baby till this week when nesting kicked in. I think on some level he knows that things are going to change soon. I've tried to explain it and we've talked about the baby but I don't think he really "gets" it.
I've tried to be patient and spend more time with him but he doesn't even want my husband at all now and it's getting to the point where he is acting out and being a holy terror if he's alone for a few minutes. I'm so frustrated, I just don't know what to do any more. Any suggestions or advice?

I have a 2 year old and due in August. So I'm interested too just in case.

We plan on buying her a toy and bringing it to the hospital with us, so when she comes to the hospital she will get a present from the baby.

Have you done any fun projects like maybe decorate a big brother shirt for him to wear? Or, maybe let him do some father son special time and just the two of them go to the movies, or chuckie cheese. That way he learns dad is fun and I'll hang with him instead of tired mom

Just ideas  good luck!

Those are really good ideas. My husband has been really frustrated because if he even tries to pick him up, he cries and reaches for me. He's just so dramatic sometimes lol. But when I'm not around he is 100% fine and has a great time with him, and apparently is not bad at all. It's really strange!

my 4 year is super clingy here lately. she always has to be touching me. or wants to set in my lap, or me pack her around. shes never been like that, shes always wanted to be on her own or play with the boys. shes not the yougest either and shes didnt do that when i was pregnant with her little broter.. I im going to let her help pick out baby things, set up everything, and we have girls days so she doesnt feel left out. my boys on the other hand, they couldnt care less.

Oh ues... They can be very dramatic....lol ;) My girl was clingy too, but fast started taking her outside to play when he got home, he takes her to the park on the weekends (sometimes I go, but I've been exhausted). They are buddy, buddy now...definitely a daddy's girl.... Probably helps that he sneaks her ice cream when they go out..lol.. (at least he brings me some too).

My almost 4 year old has been clingy through out my entire pregnancy. She is excited to be a big sister, but I don't think it has sunken in quite yet. My husband and I have been taking turns to do things one on one with her and our 5 year old as well. I t will be an adjustment when baby gets here but everything will slowly go back to normal.

OP, i have known alot of mommas of tyoddlers have the same exact issue you are dealing w/and they werent ''expecting''....sometimes kids just go through fazes , they like to see have far they can push you to get their way. If LO isnt acting the same way and throwing a fit for you when u arent around, then he is ''playin'' you good.
