You can comment if you u think try need a guard rail or what not. My son is only 1.5... I'm not getting him a loft bed yet. But my plan is it get it one day so he has all the space on his floor the play :-)

I voted 3. My little guy turns 3 next week and would be fine as long as there was a guard rail. He won't go jumping off the side or anything.

ooo watching my LO outgrew a crib before one and he does better in a big boy bed anyway but I want the kids to share rooms once this one gets to where a crib wont work with her either so I want to do a bunk bed and have youngest on bottom but I am worried to go get a bunk bed and let LO sleep on the bottom then put him in the top before its safe ....he doesent roll its just so high for his lil butt to fall tho

i shared a bunk bed with my brothers and i believe i was around 4 when we got it. i'm sure i would have been fine before that, but that's when we needed it. there was a guard rail, too.

with my son older than 5 because with his bed as is being a little elevated he thinks hes a daredevil and is always jumping off of it.

My son was about three and did great. It's been 2 years and he's never fallen off. He just has the regular rail that came with the bed.

My son was four when he got his. It has a fairly high guard rail. Hes never had trouble with it. My daughter wants a bunk bed, too but she's more of a daredevil and I worry she would jump off the top bunk in a leap of bravery and break a leg. She's 3. We will wait until she's probably around 4, as well.

My son is in a toddler bed. I hope he fits in it till he is ready for the top bunk because I don't want to buy a twin regular bed frame then spend more on the loft bed

My 3yo is on the top bunk now. It has a large rail that goes all the way around the bed. The only open area is the stairs are.

My 6yo was on top till his cousin spent the night. She kept telling him there were scary things & he stopped being able to sleep up there.

My kids are 4-1/2 & 3 and they have a twin over full bunk bed. I make them both sleep at the bottom because they still get up a lot during the night and I'm afraid of them not realizing they're on top/

So for the moms that did it for youngerish children you could say it worked out fine for a two almost three year old then or a younger three year old?
assuming this baby is like my LO that will be the general age range he is probably gonna be at when he gets moved to top bunk
