Tattoo after surgery?

Does anyone know what the recommended wait period is? I'm going to ask my doctor when I see him in a few days what he recommends but I'm not sure if it's too specific a question for him to be able to answer off the top of his head or if there's even a standard answer.
I had my gallbladder out nearly two weeks ago and feel fantastic. I was sore if I had to sit down or get up from the floor for a few days but other than that I've been completely fine and today I forget I have it. So I keep planning on getting this tattoo but then I stop and remember I had that operation.

I'd probably wait until the incisions heal up. I always imagine tattoo parlors to be dirty places (I know that's silly), so I'd be concerned about infection.
