loans

Will banks do small loans? I am talking like $500 that I am totally willing to put against my car because that is all I need and I won't have it until Feb 23rd but I need it now so that DH and I can put down payments down on a place we found. I would just apply for a Credit card but we need the cash and I am not going to do one of those payday advance things with 50% interest. I heard you can get low interest if it is through your bank. Is that right? This is our last option, we have like two more options I will be trying tomorrow and if neither of those work out this will be our final option.

I've never been to a bank that would loan out that little. The minimum was like 2-3k.

That's just been my experience.

Yeah they will. I was trying to get a $500 loan to pay for my car deductible (I couldn't get it, my credit is too bad... she said they have to be around 700 for them to even look at it). But she said a lot of people have been in the same spot... trying to get a loan for their deductible.

I just don't see why especially if you are putting a 6000 dollar car against it for collateral. Maybe I should just take something to a pawn shop and do it that way?

Have you talked to the dealership? I was putting $1500 down on my car, but I didn't have it when I went to the dealership (was just looking around). But he told me to just write a check, and they wouldn't cash it until the next Friday when the money was in my bank, so that I could have my car that day.

This is just a down payment for a rental house.

Hm. I'm not sure. I wouldn't do a pawn shop -- you won't get nearly as much as you should for whatever you're going to pawn. If you and SO/DH both go to the bank so one of you can co-sign, that'll be better. The lady asked me if SO would co-sign so I could get the loan but he didn't want to.

We were not expecting to be moving so soon (planned on having our tax return plus DH's raise to add to it) and we just got done giving my mother like 300 so that depleted our account. But I found a place and I am really thinking it is going to be awesome and if it is then it will be mine no matter what I have to do.

The thing is that I cannot cosign because I have no job. I am being a stay at home mom. I am actually just thinking of taking my car title to them. I know we will have the money by the 23rd rather it is through taxes or DH's paycheck or our student loans.

yeah. When my mom signed onto loans she always used her car as collateral.
