induction at 2cm 50% effaced
posted 8th Feb
I found out at my 38 week appointment i was 2cm dilated and 50% effaced, at my 39 week appointment (Feb 5) I had changes in my cervix "but nothing to talk about" (my doctor said) and he said we need to discuss induction.. I have no medical issues, no high BP, negative for group b strep, and my blood sugar is very good. The reason for induction is because i'm about 2hrs away from my Dr ... I am stuck, i don't know what to do! I've heard horrible stories about being induced and this is my first pregnancy, a girl.! My due date is monday Feb 11th, and i've been having SERIOUS sharp pains in the whoo ha area and some intense back pain ( but i've had that for a few weeks on and off ) what is some of your opinions? my dr appt is on Feb 12th and he is going to do a stress test on her with the monitor? I'm so scared!!! I don't know what to do!!

If you do not want to be induced, don't do it. But it will be after you DD, so I might have done it if it were 2 hours away...but that's just me.
The stress test is nothing, they did three for me when I was 8 days overdue.

I would not let him induce me unless there was a medical emergency an it was needed. You will hopefully experience a labor that starts slow and you can get in the car and be at the hospital in two hours and be fine. I would try to put off an induction as long as possible! If you feel more comfortable being induced because of the distance I understand and it is your call. However I would not do it. I would try to stay as natural as possible.

This, labor doesn't happen like that. Typically women go through it for hours.

Dont do it. Go when your body does. Trying to speed up or slow down yhe process during ur last few weeks can harm your or your child. My friend was induced and the meds made her son extremely sick and was in the hospital for a month. you never know how your body or your baby can react to meds. You can go over your due date. In fact its normal for your first time to go past your due date.

You can refuse to be induced. Being induced raises the risks of it ending in a csection. I went a week over due.

My water broke at 3:15am and DS was born at 7:15am.
I would have been freaking out of I was 2 hours away from the hospital.
Can't he check you into the hospital?
Or can you stay in a hotel near the hospital until the baby is born?
I was induced with DD, worst labor ever! My labor with DS was amazing. I'd have 6 more kids if I knew it'd always be like that. Lol

Dang that's a short labor! I hope I get one like that.

im due the 12th and i had an appointment Wednesday. My doc wanted to induce me soon but i told her not until my due date. So Tuesday im being induced. Im still a little off about th reasoning. I've been really sick with bronchitis pneumonia since the first week in December and was in the hospital the other day because i couldnt breath. Long story short the antibiotics I've been trying are not working and my doc figures its going to be better to have her sooner rather than later for my health. If you and your doctor have talked about it and your okay with it then go ahead! but make sure your fine and agree with everything.

I believe it's mind over matter.
I told everyone from the time I announced my pregnancy (kept it quiet for 12 weeks) to the time I delivered that my labor was going to be 5 or less hours long. Lol

Haha I wish. I told myself it would be 4 hrs max. Yeah it was 4 days of timetable consistent contractions.

Induction is going to be discussed at my next apt. My doctor has my EDD at the 16th even though all my tickers say the 8th. Medically on paper it's the 16th she changed it so late. But in the discussion, I mean I really want this to be over at the same time. I think I'd request at least scheduling it later, and going 41 weeks+ Just to give her that extra week to come on her own. I've heard the horror stories and I've heard stories that sound too smooth to be true. It all depends on how ready your body really is.
