what do you ladies think this is!? (pic)

about 2 weeks ago my son started to have these itty bitty little bumps on the right uper shoulder around his back. I talked to a lot of people, as well as called his pedi, and they all said it sounds nothing more than a heat rash and to keep an eye on it.

Within the last week, I noticed more and more "dry" patches on his skin that I thought were from the nasty cold weather here. Turns out, it's the SAME rash that was on his shoulders, that spread onto his upper arms, upper thighs and now I saw just now, onto his stomach.

He is in no pain, and seems to not even notice it is there. What could this be? I'm calling his pediatrician first thing in the morning. I'm thinking eczema. My dad said possible psoriasis but can babies even get that? I know SO is prone to eczema but I just don't see how it can spread like this and me not even see it. It's like it spread over night.

Here's what it looks like on his back:

is there anything I can try tonight that might make it better for him? my dad has come cortisone cream that is 1% and I know SO uses that when his eczema breaks out.

not at all. I thought that too at first, well I initially freaked out and thought chicken pox. He hasn't eaten anything new that could cause it, hasn't used any new bath washes either. In all 8 month I've never seen his skin do this. Not only is it little bumps, there are actual patches on his skin that just look horrible. and they have made their appearance within the last 2 days since I last gave him a bath. IT's most visible after his bath time.

Definitely looks and sounds like eczema! My son has it and it looks just like that. His pedi prescribed him some cream (I can't remember what it is called and it's in the room with him sleeping right now lol) but he also told me I could put any type of moisturizer on it if I couldn't use the cream for any reason. It really helps to just keep him moisturized.

My daughter had the same thing. Ped said it was heat rash. We used Aveeno baby bath and lotion and it helps. The hydrocortisone cream knocked it out though. Loose light layers, and less baths which dry the skin.

that's what we use, aveeno baby bath. I haven't tried the lotion yet. I tried just about every other baby lotion and none of them made it better. I'm going to put some hydrocortisone on it now. I've been keeping him in lighter layers and clothes since I thought it was a heat rash, but I'll definitely put my heat up a little higher tonight so we can put him in a cooler nighty to see if that helps! and I've already cut him down to only 2 baths a week.

ugh, I feel so bad for the kid! I know how bad eczema can itch when we have it. But it doesn't seem to phase him! thanks a lot ladies for all the advice!

If it is eczema, what i normally do since my boys are covered with it right now is space out baths to once a week unless there's some sort of event or a poo-nami, etc. I used the aveeno oatmeal bath. You don't use soap with it, although i wash their hair with shampoo. You have to let them soak for 20+ min. Don't rub their skin when they get out of the bath.

I normally follow up with unscented aveeno lotion. They also have aveeno eczema shampoo/bath wash (unscented) to use as shampoo. I normally use it on my middle baby since he gets it the worst.

If it's really bad, I've covered the lotion with vaseline. Good luck!
