should i be worried about this?

posted 8th Feb
I'm 29 weeks with my second. Since about 25 weeks I've been noticing mucus like discharge. Two days ago when I used the bathroom and wiped there was some of this but it was pinkish, but I didn't have any kind of cramping etc. Today I noticed more discharge but it didn't have a pinkish color but I've been having some cramping and dull lower back pain. Every time baby has moved today she feels super low and my belly has been tensing up, which I'm assuming is just braxton hicks but I feel like it's hard for me to tell because I'm not showing at all yet so I just feel all baby 24/7. I'm not sure if I'm just being overly paranoid or what. I thought about calling my mw a few times today but have been working all day and never got a chance. With my first I was induced and contractions didn't phase me at all so I'm worried I won't notice them!

Go in better safe than to be sorry if your cervix is opening.

I literally just went through the exact same thing. Same order of presentation in symptoms, same weeks, same everything (except the cervical change was 50% effacement, not 2cm of dilation). I can tell you what ended up happening with me. They discovered the discharge was premature loss of mucus plug, and that my contractions (while painless) were creating premature cervical change. I spent a day at the hospital where they did a huge round of tests, most important of which was the fetal fibronectin test. I got one shot of steroids that day, another the next day, and was sent home on bed rest and told to come for weekly ultrasounds to check the cervix situation.

I'm 32 weeks today and still on bed rest. It's been really difficult, I have a three year old at home as well who's missing her mommy, but it's done a world of good. I get to start slowly restarting activity this week. They ended up discovering I had developed an asymptomatic UTI at some point that either spread to or irritated the outside of my uterus, which prompted my body to start slowly going into preterm labor. I went through antibiotic treatment, and things are slowly getting better. Still stuck in bed, still contracting, but I'm still pregnant and things look better every day.

Always, I just wanted to say I know what you're going through and how scary it is. If you need someone to talk to who's going through the same thing you can PM me anytime. Good luck!
