Walking?

posted 8th Feb
Has been the only thing I've seen that anyone say's progressed their labor. I don't wanna eat spicy things, all the yellow skittles in a 1 lbs bag, and jump up and down singing Michael Jackson's "Thriller" followed by the pledge of allegiance.
I am, On the other hand, willing to walk my ass off, if it'll help at all. baby will still come with baby is ready. Just wondering if walking a good amount would help anything at all?

Walking won't bring labor on but it can help dilate you further during labor. It is also good to walk in general to be more fit for labor. Honestly, none of that stuff will magically make labor come, some can help you when in labor.

Thanks. Just wondering. I've been on moderate bed rest. The terms making it almost impossible to walk certain distances. So I was curious the terms on the whole walking helping progress labor etc., etc., And I was joking about all the rest. I've read some pretty ridiculous things women have tried to bring labor on with. Lol.

I couldn't tell if serious or not

Lol I don't know if I could do that. I'd be sitting down every 20 feet or so she feels like she's going to fall out.

I guess it's true what they say about baby coming when baby's ready. Oh well still no rush. Would be nice to be over with it. But I technically still have 2 weeks. So who knows.

Progress your labour? Absolutely. "Induce" or start it? Not so much. I walked and walked and walked, pretty much every second I wasn't in the bathtub, when I was in labour. DH and I would go outside and take really long walks and each time I'd have a contraction, we'd stop and I'd put my hands on his shoulders and squat down a bit, so my pelvis would open up and I'd rock/sway my hips until it passed, helping to move the process along. Labour ended up taking 5 days, but I know staying active made me feel so energized and eager to get to the finish line. The delivery was so quick and so painless. Getting my body prepared ahead of time did a lot of good.

Thanks   I've done like stand exercises squats and stretch and such, and I go out to big stores 2-3 times week and walk around with my SO for about an 1 to an hour and a half, but then I have to go back home and put my feet up.

If I were you, I'd spend the remainder of the pregnancy resting up and relaxing as much as you can. All that free time seems to disappear when you've gotta take care of a little human being (who woulda thought?), so take advantage of it while you still can, that way you're ready to go when it's the real thing. Save the walking your ass off technique until you're in labour.
