omg...

sorry just had to vent a little..
my son is only 2 months old and my family is really really pressuring me to give him baby food already! today i was eating some strawberries with whipcream and they kept begging me to give him some whipcream. they also kept begging me to give him peanut butter pie ALREADY! he is way too little for this, what if he were to have an allergic reaction to peanuts!? i don't wanna be rude or anything, but it is my kid and i don't want him having this stuff till he is old enough to handle it. i already have to give him rice cereal, because he has really bad acid reflux and the doctors told me to give him some. which i don't have a problem giving him that, but baby good, whip cream and all this other stuff? no! they told me i was a dipriving mother, cause i told them when he gets old enough i don't wanna give him cokes.. i don't think that's depriving at all, i just don't wanna give him something like that.
i wish they could respect my decision :/ anyone else have this problem!?

This. Maybe look up some articles about the harm in giving baby food before 6 months, and show it to them. Although, they all sound like idiots, so I don't know if that will help either.

your family shouldn't be allowed to have children.he's your kid and if you want to not give him sugary things that could really harm him in the future than that's good on your part.

When my MIL tries to tell us what to do, we tell her to worry about herself. They're not her kids and we'll do what we want with our kids. We recentl got into a huge argument about how I discipline my DD1 and we haven't talked to her in over a month now. She and her Mom and Brother were constantly judging us and telling us how we would raise our kids so we have cut them out completely. It never ended with them, we'd been going through this for over 2 years and they couldn't just leave it alone and let us parent without making remarks and acting like they know what's best for our kids.

i told them today that it's my child and i don't won't him having food yet! he is way too little!! im just kind of tired of getting pressured into it. but im deff not going to give in, i know what is best for him and he does not need food right now!

that's a good idea, but then again they may not even listen. uh, it's just soo aggravating!! like i know this sounds bad but i really have to keep my eye on them because im scared they are going to go behind my back and give him something i don't won't him to have. my dad was forcing me today to give him the peanut butter pie, i kept explaining to him how for one, he is too little, and for two he could be allergic to peanuts! he was like oh he will not! uh!

Yeah I sure did. That is why I have even more problems with my MIL and step MIL. You are not depriving your son, they are the crazy ones. My own mom told me I was being silly and that she gave me stuff when I was little. I told her maybe that was why I have food addiction and issues (I have no real proof or anything to back it up just wanted to shut her up). I think you should stick to your guns and I hope your family isn't like mine trying to sneak food to him. One thing that kinda worked but not as good as I had hoped was letting each pushy person pick one thing they really wanted to give her and promised that when I was ready for her to have it they could be the one to give it to her and video tape/take pics. Holy run on sentance, sorry about that!

Our little girl isn't even here yet, and my Husband's grandma still tried to tell us that SHE was going to raise her, and how we were stuck in the "dark ages" because we said we weren't sure we wanted her to start dating until highschool (never actually decided on it just discussing it) or give her a phone until she starts driving because we don't see the point.
Families are crazy and need to just back off and let us raise our kids the way we want to.

maybe they should pressure you into giving LO honey too...   strawberries and peanut butter are the two worst things you can give... 1 because of allergies and 2 peanut butter is considered a choking food. its too thick and sticky. tell the to STFU. not to mention LO is way to young.

Stick to your guns. You're doing the right thing. I'd also show them the articles that talk about how babies digestive systems aren't mature enough yet. Hopefully they leave you alone about it.

My MIL actually got mad cuz I wouldn't let her give LO honey... I'm starting to think it's a miracle my DH turned out ok...

We're doing those same things. That was how I was raised, though, so no arguments from my parents. I think that our society is way too dependent on technology. My kids won't have tv's in their rooms, their tv and video game time will be limited, and they won't be getting cell phones until they start driving. As for the dating, that definitely won't be happening until high school (unless they want to be chaperoned  )
