breastmilk storage:

posted 8th Feb
For those that store large amounts of breastmilk, what do you use? Right now im using the lansinoh bags because they were on sale and were the cheapest per bag. But I go through a box of 25 in a week. I was bagging all the milk I pumped while at work yesterday and used 7 bags. There has GOT to be a cheaper solution.

DAMN, wish I could have pumped that much! I'm jealous.

I've never heard of ice cube trays before...

I pump today what I need tomorrow and freeze the excess. Freezing the excess in trays and freezer bags could cut down, but I would still use 4-5 bags a day for the fresh milk.

That doesn't sound safe. I just picture bacteria and frostburn.

This is essentially what breastmilk storage containers are. Bacteria doesn't grow in the freezer, and you risk frostburn anything when you put things in the freezer lol

You pop them out as soon as they are frozen. It's not meant for long term storage (from what I have read about it).

I only store 4oz per bag since that is what he eats per feeding.

One lady said her ice cube trays were 1 oz per cube. So it was easy to just grab how much u need. And a gallon freezer bag would be way cheaper than bm storage bags.
