So I talked to a Lawyer today...

She was amazing... I went to see her about getting custody of my daughter. She said my case was so strong I won't even need a lawyer. And since I've already been filing paperwork with the courts on my own (which I brought to show her) I may not even need a paralegal. But I can use one to make it a bit more professional and such. She said all the anxiety and emotions I am feeling are legitimate and pretty much everything that she had told me to do is what I have done and am planning on doing. I feel so much relief. I even told her anything about my past I could think of that may harm me, and she said it wouldn't. She said all mothers worry that is they aren't perfect people that their kids may be taken away, but the truth is hardly any moms are perfect. So that also put me at ease. I am so glad I went to see her. She even said if it ended up going to trial I could pay her for only the trial and she would be happy to do it. She told me what to say to his mother and that I can even have one of her paralegals draw up a legalized agreement if she plans on seeing her until I find out if I am moving to a different city or not. It's nice to know my fears are legitimate and that the way I feel about protecting my daughter is as well. I will be so happy the day that family is out of our lives. She said the courts don't like liars, cheaters, and manipulators... I told her that's exactly what they are.
