repeat c-section

posted 7th Feb
So i had a csection with my daughter because she was breech... so i figured maybe this time i could try vaginal... but the doctor told me that because my frame is so small that he would recommend a repeat csection. so i guess im just wondering if its worse, the same, or better the second time? Im just kinda freaking out because this time i KNOW what to expect virsus the first time being a complete surprise lol

Unless your first child went into distress trying to come out of your tiny frame or got stuck, I don't see why he would push for it again honestly. I am all for csections but only if they are necessary.

if there is nothing wrong, attempt a vbac. I am so upset at how often drs use the lie of "body/pelvic size" as a scare tactic for their convenience!

My second section was a lot worse than my first but it was an emergency, not planned. My third section was planned and went really well, my best recovery yet! I think knowing what to expect made me freak out a little more right before but knowing what was going to happen and that the pain is only temporary helped me get through the recovery so much easier.

Your frame has nothing to do with your ability to give birth. My grandmother might have been 4' 11" in her hayday. She gave birth vaginally to 12 children. My father was no small baby. Hell, none of the kids except Grace who was stillborn were under 7lbs.

Mine was emergency and the recovery sucked. it seemed to take a long time for the pain to subside. i dont remember what it felt like when they put the needle in my back either :/ i guess im most worried about afterwards when the push to make sure ur uterus is going back normal... it hurt so bad.. it was worse than the contractions.

I don't see what you having a tiny frame has to do with you giving birth. I am extremely tiny and I had all 3 of my boys vaginally. If you want to try for a vaginal birth this time around I say go for it. If your doctor refuses then maybe get a different doctor and second opinion.

if it ws scheduled... about the same.

though.... I've seen some really small women have a vag delivery just fine. Are you sure he just doesn't like to do VBACs?

It's ridiculous! I read they got paid more for each csection they did.

This is true. They get surgical fees.

not anymore. Without a medical condition... they should not schedule a section before 39 weeks.
(though they get moved up sometimes if a woman goes into labor on her own)
