Demand an u/s before you go in for the c-section. They told me that my son was breech so to count on a repeat. Guess what? He wasn't. I knew he wasn't. I could feel his head down but, they didn't listen to me.

did they not know baby was breech? why was it emergent?

fundal checks after delivery suck.. but make sure they manage your pain well and it shouldn't be horrible. If you're in a lot of pain, speak up.. if they tell you there's nothing else you can have yet... tell them to call the doctor. There is always something else they can give for pain. it should not be a horrible experience.

I guess i never really thought about questioning his advice... i just didnt really know how they determined what to do if you have had a csection before. but i just feel like its worth a try.. i mean thats what women are meant to do lol .. i know i still have time though.. i was just curious.

No they didnt know she was breech.... my doctor was a total dipsmurf... her foot was out and cord was around her neck thats why it was emergency. Yeah the nurse pushed so hard i dug my nails in her arm.. it was the worse pain ive ever felt... i was like "ummmm do you not realize i just had surgery bitch?!?" i dreaded those checks... i didnt ask for the dr or anything because i thought that was normal and i had to suck it up :/

I went into labor on my own at 35 weeks, was trying for a vbac but baby's heart rate jumped to over 200 so they decided to take her by emergency c/s. They did a spinal but it didn't take. I felt the test cut, told them and they just told me that it was pressure so I lifted my leg and that's all I remember. They put me to sleep very quickly and I woke up about a half our later and was informed what happened. My daughter needed to be transferred to a bigger hospital with a NICU that was almost 3 hours away so they let me leave 27 hours after her birth so I could go see her. The whole situation was an entire mess... the recovery took so long and I had terrible gas pains afterwards from being put to sleep. I was terrified when I went for my third c/s but they took every precaution and everything went amazing.

they have to push to make sure you aren't pooling blood in your uterus. vag or c-section that's a requirement. but.. they should give enough pain meds to make it tolerable.

Mine was emergency, I don't remember the pain being toooo bad after a few days. We were at the hospital for about 4 days after I had her though because of complications. Once I went home the pain was manageable without taking anything. I am hoping this scheduled one goes way more smoothly! I was at a horrible birthing center and it was 13 years ago or so, this time I am at a really great place

It does make sense that some doctors would push for it because they get paid way more for surgery than Waiting around with their hands out to catch a baby though LOL And they don't get called it randomly for regular birth, it's scheduled and on their calendars   SO makes sense why some will push for it but still lame that they do
