Fever

posted 7th Feb
I know a fever can get to 105 in a child without being problematic but I'm wondering about in an adult? I'm sitting at 104.2 even with Tylenol and I'm wondering how much can the adult body withstand before other measures should be taken? It's been so long since I've had a fever I really can't rember. My normal temp is about a degree and a half lower than average if that comes into play.

Do you have any supporting info for that choice? I just like to be informed before calling my hubby's work emergency line

How long have you had the fever, and how much Tylenol have you taken?

104 in an adult after meds can be concerning. Try motrin. Do you have a nurses line you can call? If you are dizzy too its probably best to get checked.

If you're not pregnant take some ibuprofen, it generally kicks a fevers butt a little better than tylenol does

Web MD. Says 100.4 you should at least call a doctor. You are almost 4 degrees above that.

Aww son of a....Alrighty, then I'd take another dose of tylenol. Strip down to light clothes, and slap a cool rag on my head. Is it oral thermometer? I don't trust any other kind to give correct readings. My ear thermometer said my temp was 106.4 when my oral said 102.3.

It is an oral one, ok then I'll take another dose and see what it says and if it doesn't get better than I'll call the nurses line. Fortunately I'm not at all comfused and quite responsive

Yup, above 103 should see a doc. Drink lots of water if you can to stay hydrated. Feel better soon...
