healthier lifestyle...

posted 7th Feb
Pointless post, really... but I've decided to do my damnedest to live a healthier lifestyle... while I'm pregnant or not. I guess I'm lookin for some encouraging words. I don't eat right, I drink a lot of caffeine... and I recently stupidly started back smoking. Sitting here tonight... I am putting the cigarettes down. They do no good for me or baby... (not much worse than my husband smoking in the house and the car. I've been asking him to take it outside, but he refuses to. His excuse WAS that its too cold to go outside every time he wants a cigarette. Now its getting warmer. So I can only wonder if his next excuse will be something like "its too hot" I know he don't want to go outside because this is his (our) house. I don't know what else to do!! He used to try to just go in the bathroom, but with the horrible insulation in this apartment, there's no not smellimg the cigarette smoke. I want to put the cigarettes down, but I'm so moody as it is. But that is far from a good enough excuse, especially when it comes to little one. :-/ I'm also gonna start tryin to eat healthier... but I'm not sure where to start, bc usually our groceries consist of quick fixings and stuff like that. I guess I'll look up some recipes. (If any of you have any, I'd love to hear em!! ;-) ) anyway... wish me luck. Even though I was quit smoking for 4 months, and am only smoking on average about 3-5 a day... its gonna be rough. I get super edgy if I don't have one. But that's hormones talking. Any encouragement or advice will be greatly appreciatex!! ♥ have a blessed day lovely ladies.

You can do it! Put them down for the baby, imagine him or her sucking down poison. The addiction is 99% mental. Once you get through the first two weeks you will be ok.

Good luck!

With any luck they will make you so sick you can't stand the smell of them and it is an easy quit. That is how I did it.

It is hard to change a lifestyle. Baby steps. Start with eliminating one crappy thing from your diet at a time and replace it with something healthy. Get outside and walk. Light exercise will make you want to continue your path. Good luck

You can do it!!! I quit with DD2   it wasn't easy but I was reminded of how awful I felt after DD1 was born. I was too selfish to quit & the moment I looked into her face I felt absolutely horrible. I'm just so thankful she wasn't born premature or with any health issues. I wouldn't have been able to forgive myself! If you need someone to talk to, MSG me!!

That is great you are wanting a healthier lifestyle!

The changes you want to make, should be a gradual process. If you want to quit smoking, I'd try by eliminating one at first, and go from there. I quit cold turkey, but that isn't always doable. Same with the caffeine....quitting cold turkey could give killer headaches. Now back to the smoking....It would be ideal for your husband to start smoking outside. Yes, it sucks when the weather sucks, but the health of your children is FAR more important. Plus, it will eventually be less tempting for you to want to smoke if you aren't sitting in the same room as him.

I get a lot of great recipes from bettycrocker.com & foodnetwork.com.

Good luck with everything!

Your husband shouldn't be smoking around your other child period. He needs to take it outside. Let the little ones decide if and when they want to destroy their lungs.

Thanks ladies. I know it should be easy, but in a sense it won't be. But I'm not going to give up. I can't wait to see my baby, know that she or he is healthy and developing nicely. :-)
