I need some advice... or options for that matter

I'm 35 weeks today, they switched me to heparin yesterday because of all the preterm labor.... well it is apparent that i'm allergic to heparin.... I may have to go back to lovenox.... I am really scared about going into labor and not have any options.... at this rate the itchy skin and running nose might be worth taking heparin.... at least I won't be afraid of going into labor on lovenox.... I need some advice, i'm really emotional about all of this....

Have you tried adding a Benadryl with the medication you're on?

Is it just itchiness and runny nose? Maybe try taking it with benadryl and see what happens?

I thought about doing that.... but the doctor I think wants me back on lovenox... and I really need to be heparin.

Tell her you're going to just try to start taking Benadryl in addition to the Heparin and if it doesn't work, you will talk to her again about switching.

I will.... because I am too scared to go back on lovenox before labor.

Are you positive you're allergic?
I had the same reaction when I first started, and my nurse in the hospital assured me that it was normal. She said true heparin allergy is always serious and involves anaphylaxis. My doc told me the same thing. After about 5-7 days the rash started to disappear and now it's gone and my nose is back to being stuffy.

This is normal?! They switched me back to lovenox..... I would like to stay on heparin if it's not a reaction. But the doctor is worried and doesn't want me on it... I have to go back in Monday.
