Diaper Changing Issue

posted 7th Feb
DS refuses to stay on his back during diaper changes which is fine when he just has a wet diaper. However, its a dirty, pain in the butt when its a poo diaper. He fights us tooth and nail to turn onto his tummy and screams the entire time until he flips over. Its gotten to the point where I have a hard time changing his dirty diapers because he fights so much and I dont want him to get hurt.

Do you ladies have any tips or tricks?

How old is he? Give him something to hold or munch/chew on?

For my LO, if playing or holding something super interesting didn't work, I'd let him watch little nursery rhyme videos on youtube until I was done and it worked like a charm.   I still do it during poopy diapers with him at age 2 lol. Keeps him still.

5 months.

I tried using a toy before but that didnt last long. I'll have to find him something small and easy to clean to try again. Dh and i cant believe how strong and determined he is already. Occasionally, singing works but my repertoire isnt big lol.

Do you have a laptop or just a desktop? The videos on youtube on my laptop beside LO while changing him saved my sanity when he would try to escape diaper changes and still does.

I give my DS a toy or if my hub is around he would come and entertain him.

I have both. I could bring the laptop in there. He loves the baby beluga youtube video. That is an excellent idea!

We were just watching gigglebellies this morning during his diaper change. LO LOVES baby beluga so we tend to watch that a lot. Its worked for the wet diapers so far. Havent had a stinky occurrence yet though. lol

I have no tips, but my nephew did the same thing. The kid was exceptionally strong!! I'd always have to hold his legs still, but his top half would still be wiggling back and forth. These kids.....

I am also having this problem lately. I have been using the strap attached to the change table pad and pulling it tight. Then I give her a toy and try to sing or something to keep her looking up at me, instead of rolling. Still doesn't work all the time! They are determined little buggers!

haha. DH tried using the strap too but LO just ended up twisting around underneath it. I knew from his crazy activity in utero that we were in for trouble. He is currently on his hands and knees right now rocking back and forth. It looks like he will be crawling relatively soon. Lord help me, I hope I atleast lose weight chasing after him. LOL
