Middle of the night 2 hour "wide-awake party"?

posted 7th Feb
My baby is almost 5 months old. He's a pretty good sleeper, but has a very consistent habit of waking up in the middle of the night, wide awake, smiling, laughing, dancing, etc. and stays that way for almost exactly 2 hours, then starts to get sleepy again and goes back to sleep. It doesn't matter how much he sleeps during the day, or what time he goes to bed-- all that affects is what TIME the 2 hour party is. He's never upset or crying when I go get him, but he is singing and cooing REALLY loud, which I'm sure would turn to crying pretty soon, since he's obviously so wide awake. Any suggestions?

Get up for two hours every night. He's only five months old. No matter what other moms tell you when they make their kids sound like champion sleepers, THIS US NORMAL.

My son still does this sometimes- he's almost 10 months old.
If he isn't crying, just leave him in his crib to play and talk to himself. When he gets tired, he'll either cry or put himself back to sleep. If he starts crying, then go in and nurse/rock him to sleep. Don't play with him, or make faces at him.

this is normal lol if you want to stop it just stop going in or doing a gradual visit keeping stimulation to nothing and eventually he will just play himself out alone my son still has times he wakes up and talks himself to sleep alot of CIO moms will say let him go but even if your not for CIO you said yourself he hasnt actually cried and by you going in each night how is he to learn to put himself to sleep you are there providing stimulation to encourage the habit sadly but your LO is only five months and yea alot of babies sleep thru the night at this point fairly regularly but its actually really normal that they dont at this age so dont sweat it either way its up to you at this point if you want it to stop at three months and eleven pounds depending on your childs needs the average baby can safely sleep thru the night which btw is only six to eight hours before it becomes nutritionally damaging and for most not even then I wouldnt worry about it but like I said if it bothers you enough this is a good sign your baby is ready to start sleeping thru the night just gonna need a lil help from you mabe some gentle stimulation to help him sleep like a night light or music will help it does for my son when he is having a hard time going to sleep or wakes up randomly at night to do his party time I start his music and he is gone after a bit of talking to himself
