How old was your baby when....

posted 7th Feb
You let someone babysit them?

My son is 3 mo. 2 weeks and I'm still not sure if I'm ready to leave him with ANYONE!!

Maybe I'm just overreacting, but how old was your baby when you left them with your parents or inlaws. Or babysitter?

Like just during the day or overnight? During the day, since 6 weeks old. I work full time so...

And over night was at 3 months old.

Sera was a newborn when I left her with my mom. Under 2 months old. I had to finish up my clinical hours in order to graduate nursing school. It was extremely hard but I HAD to do it. With Isaiah, he was about 3 months when I let a very close friend watch him. She paid for me to go get a much needed massage.

That's exactly about the time I feel like I'll be ready,
But my mother in law is always like why don't you trust me with him,
Go spend time with your husband,
And my answer is always ...
I haven't let my mom take care of him either.

And then I have a gal pal that has a kiddo around my sons age too and she ALWAYS leaves her daughter with her mom,
From like day one.
And the only person I leave my son with is my husband, and that's only when I go to work /:

She only Stayed alone with my mom or SO at 3 mos because I went back to school. And that was only a few hrs a day m-th. a babysitter was like 4 mos cause I had to do some field experience for school during the day when SO and mom were at work. But it was a close friend who was a Sahm.

Quite honestly, they are SO easy as babies...it wasn't until my son starting becoming mobile that taking him certain places was just more trouble than it was worth. Anything I wanted to do I could easily take him with me to do when he was tiny, there was just no reason for me to leave him with anyone. Even now I try to limit the time he is away from me, not because I dont trust anyone else to watch him or because I am overbearing, but because I simply enjoy him being with me and feel like it is my job as his mom to take care of him. If at any point you start getting frustrated with your LO, it is a lot better to take a couple of hours to yourself though then let your frustration build. All moms need a break sometimes.

I'm not frustrated at all.
That's not the point.
I feel pressured by my mom in law.
My baby is perfect, And I never want to be away from him

OK well then just tell her that you will let her spend alone time with the baby when you and your husband are ready. Or maybe tell your husband to tell her. Like another poster said, all mothers need alone time. When you give birth, you don't suddenly lose you identity. So I wouldn't be worrying or slightly judging others for when they decided to leave their child with a relative.

My parents gave me a lot of grief too, but it really is your decision. There is NO reason to leave your child with someone if you aren't ready to.

I still hate for my son to be away from me and he's 18 months old. DH doesn't understand it and calls me stingy, but he's my baby.
