C-sections :-/

posted 7th Feb
Trying to do the right thing and read about how to stay calm and just trying to educate myself on everything. I'm so fkd up bc of my emergency c-section 3 years ago that I can't even read anything without crying. (link to the story on my page) PTSD to the MAX!! I had a panic attack last week thinking about it. I'm starting to think it would just be a better idea if I was put out for the surgery next month. Which makes me sad bc I want to see him when he's born and hear him cry and I want my husband to be able to witness the birth of his son too. I mean what if I get in there and totally freak out? *sigh*

I haven't read your back story but do you absolutely have to have a c-section?

They will put you under if you ask it. They had to with me because the local and two epidurals didn't do smurf and I felt it when they started to cut >.< So I am thinking they will probably have to do that with me this time, too. But you are awake within 20 minutes and your husband CAN see the baby being born, my mom and sis watched my whole procedure

Quoting Mrs. Reynolds:" They will put you under if you ask it. They had to with me because the local and two epidurals didn't ... [snip!] ... But you are awake within 20 minutes and your husband CAN see the baby being born, my mom and sis watched my whole procedure  "
Really? I was put under for mine & they wouldn't let my mom in the room while they did it. She had to wait to see DD until they were done.

I think she was standing just outside the room at a viewing window (like a big bay window) she stayed with me and my sister went with the baby afterwards. But I've been told that if you insist you can have someone in the room with you but they have to wear scrubs and hairnet and wash their hands, the whole 9

Being put to sleep doesn't freak you out?

Kel, I know exactly how you're feeling right now. And the closer you'll get, the harder it will get :/ IF you decide to stay awake, once they put the spinal in you, the pain will go away and you'll become drowsy. You can request medication beforehand to calm your nerves; they gave me something with Melanie but I can't for the life of me remember what it's called (I'll see if hubs can remember when he gets up) I was much calmer once they gave it to me. But if you're absolute on being put to sleep, our hospitals automatically decline anyone being in the room with us. Depending on which hospital you're delivering at, they'll either let them stand at the nursery window or wait in the waiting room until a nurse says it's okay to come back. SouthView lets you stand at the window but Atrium made them wait until Harley went and got them all, so that's why I said it depends. I will say this, which ever way you decide to go, your delivery will go FINE! If you're freaking out too much, talk to your OB about prescribing something for now? Good luck girl, TRY and calm down.
