BFing in public.

posted 7th Feb
How do you do it?!

We need to use a nipple shield. At home, I wear tank tops, and pull the one side down, I have a nursing bra, but I feel like he makes more of a mess w/that.

I just don't get how to BF in public without really exposing myself. Just use a blanket? It's hard cause he sometimes pulls the shield off and we need to readjust.

I used to just pull my boob out. My kids hated being covered. My youngest would just move his arms around until he got the blanket off.

I used a nursing cover (like a blanket with the adjustable strap around the neck)

I had to use a shield too, With practice you get better.

I wear a tank top underneath my shirt. Then I pull the tank down and the shirt up and pull out the boob. Some skin is exposed but when he's latched on no one can see anything.

In the summer I did the same thing. Tight tank top under loose one.

I wear a tank under my t-shirts, pull the t-shirt up, the tank down & Ry latches. The t-shirt covers my top half & the tank & Ry cover all the rest. I don't bother with a blanket or cover because Ryleigh hates them. At first, I was really weird about even doing it that way, but she's almost a year now & I just don't care. haha.

Use a nursing cover that has some boning in it to hold the top open for you look in and see...and hooks around your neck.

I had to use a shield too, and what a pain! Truth is, in my 2+ years of nursing, I nursed in public twice. Once covered, once I didn't have a choice and found a quiet corner with no cover. If I ever did it again, I'd get a cover.

I never thought I'd care either, but we're going to an Auto Show today and I'm getting a bit nervous lol.

Every time I've had to nurse in public, no one even knew what I was doing .. haha They just thought she was sleeping. But I didn't have to use the shield so I'm not much help

Isn't the sheild to assist with latching? Maybe you could get the Lansinoh latch assistant and not have to use a shield? They sell it at Walmart. As for nursing in public I wear a tank underneath tshirt and then I use a cover.

we used a shield for two weeks with my daughter. omg pain in the ass to get on! and then they knock it off...I feel ya.
I just used a cover. it goes around your neck and sticks out a bit so you can see down to the baby/boob. i got mine at target. another brand is utter cover. my target one i cut the "straps" from around the arms and then tied them around my neck.

Never heard about it before. I have to use it for the first couple months cause I have flat/inverted nipples.
