IMO. I say don't erase history. It's always going to be there...

We may not like it or agree... but changing the name or removing or doing whatever... the history is still there.

Its just causing too much of an uproar. They should just leave it. I'm not excited about the kkk protesting in Memphis. Blah.

I think it's sweeping history under the rug.
It's smurfing ridiculous they want to rename Confederate and Jefferson Davis Parks. I guess I can understand renaming Forrest Park though. I'm very proud of my southern roots, but I have always thought badly of the KKK who Nathan Forrest had significant ties with. I've had a few friends name their little boys Nathan Forrest or Forrest Nathan and it just makes me embarassed for their kids, lol. He WAS a great member of the Confederate army, but that's often overshadowed by his history with the KKK

The KKK alway manage to make themselves look like a bunch of stupid hillbilly bullies.

Like seriously is the KKK now like it used to be?? I really have never thought there were still men doing that smurf still.

I didnt believe it either. But sure enough they are still around. Idk if its as bad as it used to be. But idk. I've seen documentaries and stuff but I Don remmember the names. Look on YouTube and Google I'm sure you'll find plenty of info.

They really only ever resurface to stir up drama, or so it seems. I'm sure there are still some very active Klans, they just do a damn good job of being nothing more than a rumor until they find some event where they can piss people off and wear their ignorance like a badge of honor.

Ugh I can't stand the KKK. They make proud white southerners look bad. I wear a necklace with confederate flag beads and a gator claw on it (from a gator my husband killed) and sometimes get asked if I'm racist or affiliated woth the smurfing Klan.  

I say its best to leave it but I understand why some would want to change it. It's making them into heroes, but for a lot people they were the enemy.

Even the black people they were interviewing on the news said to just leave it. There are much bigger problems in Memphis than names of Parks. Haha.

They should changed it merely because of Forrest's very public association with the Klan.

That park probably doesn't feel very welcoming if you know history... unless you're white.

My best friend from back home came to visit. She is black and thought it was the.coolest thing ever when we drove by. Even took a picture. When I found out who the statue was I called and told her. We haven't laughed so hard in a LONG time.
