She doesn't cruise

posted 7th Feb
DD is 11 months. She doesn't cruise at all.

She pulls up on everything and stands no problem. If we put her by her walker (the push kind), she'll walk behind it no problem.... But she has no interest in cruising on the furniture. she just crawls!

Is this normal? Will it affect when she starts walking?

On the same idea... Do most babies walk around their first birthday?

idk about most babies, but DD started walking on her first birthday. my niece on the other hand is 1 1/2 and still not walking unassisted. she'll take a few steps but once she realizes she's walking she drops on her butt.

Most babies walk between 12-18 months.
You just don't hear about that as often as people who's babies walk before they turn one. It's like parents who's babies walk during the AVERAGE time are ashamed or something, idk.
She will figure out. If she doesn't by 18 months THEN be worried.

My son crawled at 6 months, cruised and stood on his own at 8 months and he walked at 9 months...my neice however is about 10 months and still not crawling, let alone cruising..all babies are different. As long as you are letting your baby explore I think all will be good.

DD just turned 1 on the 4th, and does not cruise either. I took her for her 1 yr checkup and her legs are very weak. Her right leg is weaker then her other leg though. The pedi did her reflex and it was good on her left but none on the right.
If in 1 months time she is not cruising at all yet, we are seening a physio therapist to to strength training on her legs.

DD pulls up and that, but her legs will be shakey etc....she can stand for long periods of time, but no cruising or steps. Just keep an eye on it, I knew her legs were not right (being my 3rd)

But it also can be normal as well.

DD started cruising at about 12 months adjusted.

When she pulls up on something take a fun toy, or something she shouldn't have like the remote or your cell phone, and put it just out of reach on the couch or whatever she's pulling up on. This worked great with DD.

I have been wondering the same... DD can pull up very well on anything BUT she won't really cruise. She also has started letting go of things she pulls up on and just stands there. She will walk behind toys and walk if we hold her hands though. She just turned 9 months.

ETA: Anytime she does walk it is on tip toes... it is kind of starting to worry me.

Tip toes is totally normal, I've looked into it cause a friends baby did that for ages and she couldn't research it on her own.

Its not that DD can't walk with assistance, its like she just can't be bothered cause she can crawl faster. If she really wants something a foot away she'll cruise to it... But for the most part she's just like Meh!
