Cat scratch fever

posted 7th Feb
Holy smurf! DS was just diagnosed with cat scratch fever! I feel terrible!
The doctor wrote SO a note saying we dot need to get rid of the cat because all I need to do is take the cat to the vet and the cat already is scheduled to get declawed.

SO is going to flip his smurf.

The doctor said its not a very bad case though.

getting a cat declawed should be considered mutilation.

find a home for the cat where it can keep its toes!

It's a lot more humane than having a cat live on the streets.

Depends on the age of the cat.

Both my cats were declawed as kittens, the same time they were spayed, and I highly doubt they felt any pain......I know this b/c they were given fentanyl patches (very, very strong pain killer) and spent 4 days in the "hospital" being medicated. So it's not as inhumane as some people say and honestly its worth it to avoid any scratches to my children or my furniture, lol.

It's not always easy to rehome an animal. Besides, why would you send it away so it could happen to another person? It's not like she'll take a butcher knife and chop its feet off. It's a medical procedure. Humans have limbs and other items amputated for medical reasons....

Stfu. It doesn't mutilate them, they're feet don't become deformed or walk weird because of the procedure  If it helps against her cat scratching her child and she can keep her pet, I say it's a good solution. A fews days of the cat being uncomfortable is worth it.

Thank you, everyone, for my jumping on me about gettin the cat declawed.

And for the person who did get sassy, please GTFO. I would rather have my cat declawed and happy and safe in our home than throwing her out to fend for herself or give her to the first person who wants her.

aww man this kitty seems to be a lot of trouble.
its really awesome to see an owner trying their hardest to keep her though, despite all that. Too many people try to get pets now a day and find that its harder than they thought for whatever reason and give up. Being declawed may be painful but its most likely the best bet for the cat.

you're pretty awesome.

How is the diarrhea?

btw does this kitty have a name?

The diarrhea is all gone. She has a slight runny nose and sneezing, but she's getting better. She's gaining weight and she's running around playing like crazy. I'm so glad she is better. All she would do for a long time was sleep. I was worried.

And yes, she has a name.   her name is Nina.

Just wanted to share my story.

I have cats and both were declawed at young ages. They are very happy cats and my daughter loves playing with them and they can play peacefully together since they dont scratch. I talked with my vet about the procedure and she was very warm to it. The healing time was not very long and both cats did great. Good luck!
