Getting tubes tied.

posted 7th Feb
This will be my 2nd child and I have a little one almost 1. I want this to be my last pregnancy and was going to ask my doctor and the next appointment to do a tubal. I was wondering since they have to open you up anyways if I can just do a c section and they can kill 2 birds with 1 stone? Or if its better to deliver vaginally?

I personally feel like a cesarian completely takes away from the birthing and bonding experiences.. Therefore I would NEVER consent to it unless it was necessary to save my child or myself.
But they have other options now instead of tying your tubes, like the Essure

How old are you? A lot of doctors won't do a tubal on you if you're below a certain age. And why would you opt for major abdominal surgery? They can do the tubal laparoscopically (with tiny holes and a camera).

Yeah, I agree. That's how mine is going to be. I talked to my ob and they set up the sugery laparoscopically. They can make a tiny incision below my belly button. He said I can do it the day after delivery. I had my gallbladder removed a year ago and they did the same with that. I do have a scar, but it is small.

I would seriously reconsider, you are young.... and you might change your mind down the road.... but once it's done, it's hard to find a doctor to reverse it.

When I had my second child 8 years ago I was certain I didnt want more. I asked my doctor to tie my tubes, and he of course talked me out of it. About 4 years ago I started researching the Essure procedure and was contemplating getting that done but kept putting it off, mostly due to financial reasons. Then I divorced my husband in 2011. And met my soul-mate 6 months later. I am forever grateful that I didn't get fixed. As we are now having our first. Deep down I dont think I wanted my tubes tied because I didnt want anymore kids, but because I wasnt happy in my marriage and didnt want anymore with the person I was with.
I guess what I am trying to say is be absolutely sure you dont want more. If there is any doubt, dont do it.

Im getting my tubes tied after I have this baby, I will have a repeat c-section so Ill just have it done then. But I would NEVER opt for a c-section just to get my tubes tied. Hell no. The pain from recovering for a c-section is intense and just to do it for a tubal is a bit extreme. My SIL had her tubes tied a few years back, her baby was I think 6 weeks. She was in and out the same day and was back to 'normal' within 2 days. With a c-section your not really back to 'normal' for a week or two...that if everything goes smooth.

You are so young, I wouldn't do it just yet, lol.

I'm getting mine tied after my next, I've had all c-sections (my next will be, also) when I went in for my last, the doctor asked if I wanted them done   I quickly said no, and he laughed.

This is exactly why I will never get fixed. Lol as bad as it may sound.. My husband is absolutely done having children so he is getting sipped. but IF we ever did not work out, I would hate to never be able to have more children if I ever remarried. It's just too permanent of a decision for my liking, especially in my 20's

As soon as my son is born i'll be getting my tubes tied.. but i will be getting it laproscopically done... i would never consent to C section unless my life &/or the babies was in danger.. i prefer the experience of pushing and the feeling that comes with all of that stuff lol
