Heparin moms!!

Anyone out there.... that can give me advice on it, i'm nervous! I am so used to lovenox.... did you notice a different?

I'm still on Lovenox. I switch to Heparin closer to the end. You'll have to have your PTT monitored. I'm a nurse. Anything I can help with?

Thanks! I am really nervous because they gave me 10,000 units twice a day.... and I was wondering if this was too high? I'm on 40mg of Lovenox...

Also due to the vials being smaller.... I have to do two vials each time... (one morning, one night)... but again this seems like an awful lot to me.

A typical dose is 5000 units, twice a day, but I don't know what your clotting disorder is. We give Lovenox or Heparin to all of our patients. I would compare 40 mg of Lovenox to 5000 units of Heparin. How often were you taking the Lovenox? I'm on 40 mg once a day.

I take my lovenox once a day... and to be honest I don't know what my clotting issue is for sure... I had 3 miscarriages and I got on the mini pill to regulate my period and got a blood clot in my leg.... so they figured the miscarriages were due to a clotting factor possibly, because of hormones. I have to do two 5,000 units twice a day.... and i'm not understanding why?!

I understand why i'm having to do the meds but not understanding why so much....

That would be a good question for your doctor. I would be curious, too.

Well I did my first dose tonight, I will be asking about the dosage tomorrow... but i'm now itching at the injection sites...
