My wisdom teeth hadnt moved at all. They were super low still and they had to cut my gum and dig for them   no way I would want to be awake for that. My face was extremely bruised.

I have badass dental insurance. The dr said might as well use it lol I got dry socket and he prescribed morphine so I got to feel like I was surfing laying down for a few days lol

I know, but if those things had been left alone, you could have potentially developed a life-threatening infection that the doctor would have been under fire for disregarding it.

There are a million reasons why women choose abortion, and often it isn't a matter of convenience at all.

How do you define "medically necessary?" To save the life of the mother only? What about severe genetic abnormalities that would make the fetus/infant incompatible with life? What about any of the zillion other things that can go wrong? Are you going to go through every single scenario and decide which are necessary and which are elective? Interview every pregnant woman, dig into her situation, and judge from there? No. It's a medical procedure and should be covered as any other medical procedure would be.

I mean, I've known people whose insurance covered breast implants by getting a doctor's note saying that their breasts were "deformed" because they never grew past an A cup. Insurance pays for nose jobs all the time, for similar reasons. Yet you're going to deny insurance coverage to a woman who chooses termination over poverty, or a child she is unable to care for, or the risk of losing a job due to pregnancy plus recovery if she chooses adoption, because of somebody's personal morals or religious convictions?

No. Abortion doesn't need to keep being thought of as some dirty little secret thing that women should be ashamed of. It's a medical option, more valuable than a number of other medical options. We pay an arm and a leg for health insurance and should be able to apply it to all of our medical expenses.

lmao that smurf is awesome, except morphine knocks me out big time

try vicodin, that is some good smurf too, lol

I actually broke a tooth last year, and somehow I broke it off the root, so the root was still in, and my dentist says, you will want to be out for extracting it, because he would have to dig in there to get it out, im like yeah you are putting me out.

The recovery from getting my wisdom teeth out was worse than the recovery from both of my c-sections combined. I'm not super tough to begin with but I was sure I was going to just lay there and die after a while.

I'm not really sure where I sit with this, but I really do not like the idea of it being mandatory mainly because it would force companies to cover something that they may not agree with.

Although I can see the benefits as an abortion isn't an easy choice, mostly considered by those who can not afford a child or an additional child. Which I would assume would lead to the mother receiving gov't assistance. I see a hike in expenses either way, so I'm going to vote indecisive even though that wasn't an option.

I live in the UK were abortions are done on the NHS so I don't really understand all this medical insurance stuff you guys talk about half the time so I lay be wrong here or not fully understanding but what I'm wondering is would it not be cheaper for them to cover an abortion than have to cover a full pregnancy and all the costs that entail?

No. It's an elective procedure that is cheap and readily accessible to most people.

It's not cheaper to cover abortions as abortions here as they are cheap as long as they are done early.

No. Why should they? If it isn't medically necessary and you just want to have one b/c you had unprotected sex and conceived. That's on you. If you don't want a child either use protection or don't have sex.

Okay - I totally know you are trying to say something here & just mistyped, but I totally don't know what you are saying....

Are you saying it wouldn't be cheaper to cover abortion than it would be to cover the maternity care & delivery of a full term pregnancy?

Yeah but if I buy comprehensive car insurance for my Ferrari and then run it off the road and total it, my car insurance still buys me a new Ferrari. If i break my leg in the wreck, my health insurance is still going to cover my cast, even if the wreck was my fault. If I know it's a stretch, but it relates to your weak ass "it's on you" argument. Some people pay hundreds or even thousands a month for health insurance so it sucks when a procedure isn't covered. Doctors are generally pretty good about explaining to an insurance company why something was medically necessary, though.

Absolutely.
An abortion is cheaper than prenatal care, labor and delivery, and 18+ years of child care.

Besides, one of the big reasons why women choose to go on with pregnancy and not abort is because of the cost. The women that need abortion services the most can't afford it.
