Whatever we tell you will not matter when you get in that room! it's definitely best for baby to not be exposed to those meds, but you never know what will happen. With my first, I was in labor but not progressing. Didn't progress for 2 days. They gave me meds for pain, broke my water and gave me petocin to speed up labor....I had to have an emergency c section, my sons heart rate dropped and I was too narrow for him to pass thru.

That's something no one here can truly help you with. Its something that you will have to decide on even if you have to wait till the time comes to decide. I waited till I was offered it to decide. I'm a wimp so I got the meds.

Find some BG mamas that used different natural ways of relieving the pain. I'm not a good one to talk to because I wanted the epidural so bad after being on double the pit I was supposed to be on but I couldn't get one because my spine is curved. I also had to be induced with both of my LOs and I didn't handle the pain well at all but I know there are mamas out there that have done different things to relieve the pain.

I was induced at 38 wks (high blood pressure reasons)... I did it pain med free. Best decision I ever made.... BUT it was the right decision for me. No one pressured me either way. I am stubborn... And I kept telling people I wasn't going to have any. I had tons of negative people telling me there was no way I was going to make it through labor and having a baby with no pain meds. I was so impressed with myself that I did it... But I didn't brag about it. Not everyone can handle all that pain. It's NOT easy.. If it was.. IT wouldn't be called Labor. I loved being able to stand up shortly after having my baby... I didn't have to wait til the epidural or anything wore off. What makes it worth it? The baby you get to hold at the end... Regardless of what you choose... It will be the right decision for you and your baby! My sister had 3 babies... Her first two she did the epidural.. And the 3rd one went so fast... She had no time to get one. So, I guess what I am trying to say... Is the decision is what you feel is best for you.. No one else should have any impact on your decision.
