PT questions

posted 7th Feb
So my son turns 3 next month, and i was wanting to enroll him in a Preschool 2 days a week.
Well i noticed most want them to be fully potty trained.

I have no idea how to potty train, hes my first so i'm learning as much as he is.
Do i need to ask him to go every 20 minutes? What if he doesn't want to go? I have a sticker chart and he gets excited when he earns a new sticker so that's a +.
It's hard when i work FT and they are with their dad on the weekends. But this kid NEEDS to be trained.
After you started PT how long did it take for your boy to be fully trained?
Pull ups or just straight undies?

With my 2 yr old, we're working on it now. How I started is after every meal, we go potty. When he does number 2, he gets a treat. He doesn't talk too much still so I have to keep an eye on him, watching for funny behavior, grabbing of his wee wee. It is soo hard tho. I have baby #2 on the way so, he gotta be fully potty trained by aug. Daddy and I am trying the letting him loose method. He goes around the house nakie from waist down. . I wish you the best of luck.

Quoting ~Raylan's Mama~:" Undies and has he at least been introduced to the potty?"

He actually was using it for a while but had issues holding his poop in and had to get an enema. It was extremely traumatic.
Then his dad went to jail for a while and he completely regressed due to all the changes in his life.
- but his life now is incredibly stable so i wanna give it another go.

There's a couple things you can try...

1) 3 3s...put him on the potty every 3 hours for 3 minutes at a time for 3 days. <---this one is from SO's Grandma...the pedi she had back in the day recommended it and it did work, but they have to be waking up dry at night for it to work.

2) If you are going to start him standing, I recommend asking him every like 30 minutes. This one is recommended by some of the mamas here on BG. My son is only 16 months so I've been eyeing threads for a good idea lol
