im proud of myself :)

posted 6th Feb
I have successfully told someone their child should not be forward facing   without coming off as bitchy or mean

This poor girl (who didn't know any better) was told by her mother that her 6 month old needed to FF because she outgrew her infant carrier at 20 pounds....smdh.

I kindly told her she needed to rear face to one year and 20 pounds AT LEAST. That that was the law. She didn't know if the car seat she had now would rear face so i even looked it up for her and let her know the weight limits   I'm pretty darn proud of myself. I also explained why it is dangerous for them to be forward facing so young

Not how to parent just that she could get in trouble for having her daughter FF at 6 months old. I asked if she wanted me to look up the carseat because she didnt know about it because her mom bought it and she said yes so i did.

I think that's the right thing to do since the person truly didn't know any better. I think there's a difference between being rude and interfering with someone's parenting and making them aware of the law

Go to bed. You ARE being bitchy.
Its obnoxious for her to brag about it, but she could have saved that baby's life.

I wish someone would have told me when my daughter was younger. Our pediatrician told us it was 1 yr OR 20 pounds. She was forward at 1 and 15 pounds   When my son was 9 months she told me I needed to turn him around and it wasn't until I was looking for a seat that I came across information online.

That's true. When dd was born I could put her forward facing from one day old. Now it's rear facing until 6 months or 7kg or something like that.

LOL at all the comments. OP, good job for educating someone who clearly wasn't educated on safety.

The laws in the US just changed like a year ago, and its more of a rule of thumb
but now states Rear facing til age 2! but good for you and you should be happy for yourself you very well could save that childs life god forbid they ever got into an accident
