Today was my oldests 6th (golden) birthday. I thankfully got my taxes back today so he could bring cupcakes to school. I took the boys to the store, brought him to school.
At the exact minute of his birth I posted it on FB. Not a single person liked the post.
I picked him up from school, brought him to toys r us to spend his $3 coupon from them. Then to McDonald's with a huge play place to play. Came home & he played with his stuff.
Not one single person in my family called to wish him happy birthday. I'm so sad for him. He doesn't realize it I'm sure. But how can you forget a child's birthday?? I make sure to call all my nieces & nephews on their birthday, even if I have to call several times. I call my mother, SILs, sisters. If my cousins have a birthday I make sure I private message them, not post it on their FB wall.

Just disappointed, pmsing, & fighting with my SO.

My family and Dh's family have always been that way. I know for a fact they don't even know any of our kids birthdays. It's sad. I used to get upset by it but now I don't care. I look at it like hey they are the ones missing out on my kids special day not my kid or me.

I think it's petty to be upset about a FB post, it's FB. But I think it's rude your family didn't call, that would hurt my feelings.

That's sucks. I hate that people just don't care.

My SOs mom called my SOs phone, not mine. His great grandpa sent a card & some cars that are 30+ years old that my SO used to play with, but that's it.

My family sucks sometimes.

I would send a text reminding them to call. People get busy.

I've realized that people are not nearly as excited about my kids' birthdays as I am, I don't expect people to call, text or message anymore.

Oh and it sounds like you made it a great day for him.

That's what I'm most upset about. Can't even take 2minutes to call & say happy birthday.

It's 9:30 at night, he's been in bed for an hour.

I tried. He was in school all day, first time I hadn't spent the day with him.

Usually my family send a text message to everyone to remind them of the birthday the next day. We do it for our own kids and my parents remind me and my siblings of each others. You can't keep track sometimes.
