sick girl

posted 6th Feb
My 21 month old got sick out of nowhere today

She felt really warm this afternoon after a nap. I took her temperature under her arm and it read 100.4 I tried to feed her frozen berries and applesauce but she threw it all up. She drank some milk and threw all of that up too. After bathing her I made her a cup of chamomile and peppermint tea. She drank it all pretty well and actually fell asleep about an hour and a half before her regular bedtime. I filled a cup with ice water to put in bed with her in case she may get thirsty again.

Was it alright to let her go to bed without eating anymore? I just worry about her throwing up again because she threw up A LOT the two times that she did.

Yeah, when she gets hungry she'll let you know.

But I always try to not give Dd milk if she has a fever and especially if she's already thrown up. It seems to sour on the stomach when they have a fever and makes them sick.

Tomorrow if she doesn't have her appetite back try toast and pedialyte to keep her hydrated.

My dr had a tummy issue not to long back. She threw up everything. Even liquids. No fever though. She went to bed one night with no food. Woke up the next morning shaky but able to eat small bits. Also popscicles are good to keep them hydrated the dr said. At least its a liquid. She ended up having to get anti naseau pill for 24 hrs before she could keep water in or food. And then she jumped back to herself. Id try the brats (I think it is.. the plain food thing. Bananas rice applesauce etc) diet tomo in small portions. Hope she feels better soon

Aw my baby is sick too   she should be fine going to bed without eating, she probably has no appetite because she doesn't feel good.

Thanks guys!

I've been giving her infant/toddler acetominophen (sp) every few hours so I hopefully that will help to sleep okay and she'll feel better some in the morning. I'll be sure to nix milk for now too :O

I feel really bad because I've had the sniffles and a small cough for a couple days now and I feel like I may have gotten her sick
I just hope my 6 month old doesn't get sick too.

If you have it, switch between Tylenol and Motrin.

My Dd's pedi told me to do this, and it helps.

I have adult tylenol, but no motrin. Do they make kids' versions of those or would I cut one in half to give to her?

I'll definitely go get them tomorrow morning! I would tonight, but I'm the only one with my girls right now and their father (I don't know if he's my SO right now or not, but that's another story) is at work with our only vehicle.
