This line right here:
Oregon Attorney General's civil enforcement officers is whether or not Klein's beliefs are enough to defend him against the Oregon Equality Act of 2007, which prohibits discrimination against people based on their sexual orientation and gender identity

Every business has the right to refuse service for any reason.

I think his reason is ignorant and just plain stupid. This publicity will also hurt his business. But he had the right to do what he did.

Thats exactly how I feel, that he is discriminating against this couple because of their sexual orientation.

It would be discrimination to refuse somebody because they have a past criminal record too but they don't make that a law. I think all these laws are stupid as smurf. He pays taxes, he pays for the building, the supplies, blah blah blah....and possibly brings jobs for the community....The laws need to stop. Make same sex marriage legal and make everybody equal and let people decide who they service with their business with their money.

The Christian lady who said she'll have to answer to God about it LMAO! yeah God is totally gonna strike you down for making a gay couple a cake SMDH.

I think it's definitely messed up but I'm not quite sure if it is legal or not.

Doesn't the Bible say that Christians HAVE to follow the law, whether its against Gods word or not? Therefore if he broke an anti-discrimination law isn't that going against what's said in the Bible?

If it isn't then they need to make every business be closed on every holiday of another religion, besides for just christmas. That is honestly the way I see it, or make every business be open on Christmas.

If that's how you feel, then do you think it is ok for a shop ran by caucasian owners to refuse service to those who aren't? Or what about when it comes to hiring? I mean by your logic, I should be able to open up a restaurant and refuse service to anyone who is not of the same race as me. (Not saying I would do that).

It's the same difference. Why is it ok to discriminate against someone because of who they love (Which IS uncontrollable) but, it's not ok to discriminate against someone because of their skin? (Which is also uncontrollable).

Make every business open on Christmas ... I have to work and that means I wouldn't have to find someone to take care of DS because daycare is close.

It is discrimination, so it should be totally wrong. You shouldn't be entitled to refuse anyone based on discriminatory reasons. If this guy goes out of business, it's his own fault for being discriminatory and passing up on a couple that'd give him business , and also being a jerk.

It is a private business and he can refuse them if he wants. However the decision was wrong because making a cake for them does not condone same sex marriage and the bad publicity could be enough to end his business.

I'll have to look this up for my state then, because I've never heard of this. I'd think if he was discriminating against an employee, then he'd be in trouble, but I didn't realize it applies to customers. Not saying you're wrong- I just hadn't heard this before. Then again, I've heard of lawsuits stemming from racial discrimination against customers, so legal impliations based on discrimination against customers based on their sexual orientation would make sense.
